I was thinking that setup looked kinda like the hydrogen generators that are being built/sold for extending gas mileage.

Great job! Yes, AC in a work shed in Florida is a must. I bought a 18.5K unit on sale @ Home Depot yrs ago and only have it on when I'm out there on hot days. I'm glad I have it.

Looking forward to your progress reports on the Cafe 350.

My compliments on a very interesting thread. I found myself impressed with your innovative approach to getting things done on a budget. I too have experienced the dust cloud from Hardi-Plank but I was not clever enough to dust proof my saw.

With all due respect though I find myself disappointed that you are the one doing the restoration. I seem to recall that your lovely daughter was getting into that business last year. I had hoped that you would be reporting on her progress and that she was making enough money at it to finance your motorcycle trip this year. Oh well, do carry on. I am enjoying it anyway.

Hey Redfish,

Yeah, Kathleen was indeed excited about the venture. However, I'm too slow to ever make anything more than a hobby out of this. I have no interest in spending 25 hours a week out in the workshop... on top of my regular job (teaching). And her hopes of coming over from Orlando which is a 2 hour ride each way (minimum), haven't panned out. Last summer, we talked about her coming over to help out, but it never materialized. She's got a job, a lot of friends, her church, and a fiancé. Between all that there's not much time for driving over here and working with dad in the workshop. But that's OK. I do enjoy putzing out in the workshop.

And concerning a motorcycle trip, that's not dependent on what takes place in the workshop. Low budget... that's my secret.

I wish I had my 1970 SL 350 back! I'd love do something like this! A friend of my dad's moved and had no place to store it, so I got a six year old SL 350 for free! Unfortunately at 14 years old, I turned it into a twin cylinder trail bike. Results were not good.

I'll live vicariously through you!

What 'ja do, wreck it up? I just loved those SL350's. The shape and design of the tank/seat, fenders... is just soooo classic. For me, it was one of the most beautiful machines ever created. Never rode one, I'm just talking about the way the looked. But they're oh-so hard to find...

Just for fun, here's a pic I found of one:

Finding an SL ain't easy, but of course they're very similar to the CB350's that I've been playing with.

I chose these Hondas because they're easy to work on, and parts are EVERYWHERE. Gotta start somewhere.

Very interesting! You've gained another follower. I have a '77 Honda CB400F Supersport that I picked up a couple years ago that is undergoing a sort of restoration-rebirth. It sat in storage for about 9 years and I bought it and have been getting it back on the road. I've already rebuilt the carbs, replaced some nonfunctional electrical components, located an NOS muffler and had the tank and side covers repainted and new reproduction stripes installed.

Another Subscriber ! Go Gary Go ! A few of us might not be well enough (off ) to undertake this but thank you for sharing and living vicariously is still living ! Get my heart fixed or swapped and i'd love to do an old RD 350....parts are hard to find though. Thanks again for sharing !

Blessings,

Bobby

Yeah, I was kinda busy this weekend. Got myself a new buffer this week. The one I bought a couple weeks ago just didn't have enough grunt. Was takin' all day to get stuff buffed out. Bot me a little more horsepower now. More later.
