I'm thinkin' the original poster didn't realized the Connie was on its centerstand, and wondered what the heck was tucked up under the left foot peg....the sidestand!
No, that's not it.
When I first looked at that photo it appeared that the retracted sidestand had a cradle it was resting in. Then, when I looked a bit closer, I realized I was looking at a long 'feeler' extending down from the footpeg.
