So, um. . . How do you get all splattered with blood without getting it in your hair or your eyes? Nice trick!

I must admit I personally am technically challenged and sometimes when I read this forum I think I should just give up and sell my FJR because I am not qualified to do all my own work. Now with that being said I do think guys like ionbeam who can analyze and explain these things are just great. I would never have thought of the original question but as usual it got answered very proficiently. Thanks to ionbeam and the others like him that step up and help those of us who know just enough to come in out of the rain---unless of course we are out on the FJR.

I have a question,I have a California model and I removed the canister, do I need to plug the vacuum tube? and when I install the Audiovox CC should I use that vacuum tube for the Audiovox CC.

Thanks,

I think I may be familiar with those parts, and the answer to the question is DIP7=OFF

Thanks for your work for the forum.

Ross

When the AVCC is off there is no vacuum flowing. When the AVCC is set to regulate speed only tiny amounts of vacuum are being leaked into the vacuum port(s) on the throttlebodies. Since I'm using a fuel filter as my vacuum reservoir I don't have to worry about dirt.
These are pictures that I took of rfulcher's AVCC:

Huh? WhadidImiss? The answer to what question is switch 7 off?

The question was is he sucking dirt into the motor. I didn't see anything about switch settings.

The consensus is, the airflow through the vacuum tap is negligible, so not enough dirt to bother anything, if any at all.

Or did I just miss the joke train?

Yes and no.

There are some standard answers to the questions never asked. 'Switch 7 off' is one of those answers; No, I didn't; Dark energy; 497 & 1/2 feet of rope and Inconceivable are additional answers to the questions never asked.

If you use a fuel filter as a vacuum reservoir it doesn't matter if 100% of the air comes through the intake air filter or not, or if dirt or debris ends up in the vacuum lines somehow. There is some poor low compression Forum member that had air flowing through his throttle bodies that didn't go through the air filter as CM says will happen. I guess in this case a cross contaminating AVCC wouldn't have mattered.

I'm going to use that one to answer my wife next time, instead of nodding or mumbling "Uh-Huh".

rfulcher, you should definitely add ".., and the answer to the question is DIP7=OFF" to your signature.

So, hopefully not to change the original content of this thread, I have a question about the performance of this CC.

Mine works great in cold weather but when it's a really nice, warm day, going up a slight grade will cause it to disengage. Logic says that due to being mounted under the seat it is overheating and causing this problem. Is this normal for this unit, or do I have something else going on? Has anyone else experienced this?

Appreciate the help!

Jon

Setting the CC DIP switch #7 to OFF has worked well for other people with that problem.

Precognition is a bitch. Finally the question I answered is asked.
