Do you have a chunker? Or do you do this as spectator sport?
I don't have a chunker. But I think my genes are so damaged (too much Scots-Irish) that my eventually having a chunker seems inevitable. Ahem, I like to watch.

 
I'm interested. Heard about it for years but never drove down to see it. Don't know if I'd be going down Sat or Sunday, have to make that decision as the event approaches...

Wait! They hold races in mud bogs? Tell me they race in an oval and I can buy huge-ass number stickers for the rear window of my pickup truck, and I'm in heaven.

Not to be outdone, NM has a pumpkin chucking contest too. I know some participants and they're really into the physics of it all.

Punkin Chunkin Contest

Eighth annual punkin chunkin sponsored by the Estancia New Mexico Rotary. Contestants build catapults and cannons to hurl pumpkins the farthest. Parade, arts and crafts, food, costumes, entertainment.

Directions: Chunking begins at High Noon at Cape Calabaza, 1.5 miles west of Estancia on N.M. 55.
