Tyler:I would look into this fall's conference in Colorado that the AMA will be hosting. Women and motorcyling or something similar is what it is called.
It's the 2009 AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference.

There is also an annual or semiannual event in Las Vegas that is aimed solely at women. I think that is called Fem Moto. Track day, demo rides with many manufacturers present, etc.
Yup - it's called FemMoto Track Day and it has been held in Las Vegas. But their web site has no details for 09, just a note about a "New Direction in 2009".

I just don't have any more details than that at present.
HD has more details here.

I also did an interview with the Harley-Davidson Women's Outreach Project Manager, Laura Scherr.

Internet primarily
Any specific sites that you hit up regularly? Or do you use a search engine (i.e. Google) to find what you're looking for? :)
No. I have NorthStar Moto Tours and dangerouscurves bookmarked :) and I've just added Her Motorcycle. But I don't go to any site regularly. Nor do I buy any particular magazine regularly. A marketing person's nightmare ....

which dangerous curves website?

This is the one I used to belong to, but I don't live in Hawaii anymore... (

I'm doing an informal poll to find out where women riders get motorcycle related info? We are contemplating some marketing/advertising for my women's touring company (www.northstarmototours.com) and I'm researching where some good places might be to be seen. ;)
Gents, any suggestions welcome as well! :)

Magazines?

Websites?

Club membership/s?

Web rings?

Online forums?

If yes to any of the above, which one/s? Thanks in advance!! :)

Good link for heated clothing...

https://www.warmnsafe.com/motorcycle_clothing.php

this stuff works extremely well.

Wish they had their gloves out before I bought the Gerbings.... don't like those at all...

I do a lot of googling to find stuff...

Fox Creek Leather has nice stuff, both cruiser and sportbike style jackets.

Harley does have good quality, even tho their name is all over everything...

And I also just look in every bike store I can find, some of them have way more ladies stuff than others.

But there are a lot of forums either for ladies or with a ladies section. I ask a lot of questions...

Mary

PS.. Why is so much of the "ladies" stuff ONLY in bright PINK... I hate pink leather!

which dangerous curves website?
Hi Mary

Thanks for all the info ! the 'dangerous curves website I mentioned is Tyler's women's riding group: dangerous curves

No problem.. wish I really had some real info to give you, tho..

But didn't you make this post on some other websites... I think I remember it from somewhere...

anyway,

good luck,

Mary

Tyler,

As with most any marketing campaign, your best advertising media depends greatly on the nature of what you are attempting to promote. Not the product exactly, but the expected lifespan of the result.

If you are planning to run a brief sale on something specific, then typically fire a big shot into wherever the masses are huddled. An ad in a rider's mag, coupled with some very specific Internet/Web information would work.

If you are looking to promote your business's presence and build credibility with the prospective customer base, a wider reaching, yet not so deep campaign usually works best. (Small ad in mag, several Internet teaser ads, flyers at parts counters in dealerships, etc.)

Generally speaking, you must either flood a target so they cannot ignore your very time-sensitive and specific product/service. Or you build credibility and loyalty through long-lasting advertising that "trains" people to associate your name with a particular product/service that has no "expiration".

I would encourage you to experiment lightly and measure the responses. Sometimes you catch fish in the strangest and most unexpected waters.

Everybody knows Pashnit.com, especially for California riding where you are. The 2 guys have their own tours set up, but if you collaborated, you could emphasize your female-oriented rides (new market for them) and get both familiarity and advertising. It ought to be a win-win.

Best of luck with it.

She gets it all from me...I hide the magazines from her - even the biker rags...
Same for my wife.....if she wants something she tells me what she wants and I go find it on the internet....order it.....most importantly pay for it.....and it is shipped to the door, then I have to talk her into trying it on and fitting it.

Pretty much my modus operandi right now. :)
I've plby talked to several thousand ladies on forums over the past 7 years .... unfortunately, the majority of them seem to be

1. I need my SO to go with me cause I'm afraid/not allowed to do stuff by myself

or

2. What color jacket should I buy?

3. Want to see the pics of my boyfriend/grandchildren cause that's what my life is?

You've got to figure out how to appeal to the

rest of the ladies out there that ride.

And while I know ladies that would ride cross country at the drop of a hat, a planned tour for them would be out of the question, just not needed. I...umm.... planned a couple of trips for myself, like US 191 from Canada to Mexico, and a few simple other trips like that. Not taken yet, althoug I've riddden cross country a bit. It would be nice to have one other person with me, just to have someone to talk to at night. although I'd love to be a tour guide for others.

Posting in as many bike forums at you can (with permission) would be a good place to start.

I think finding the ladies that ride their own, AND can afford a trip is the hard part, especially now. there is a market out there somewhere.

Sorry I don't have any real ideas, the guys posted some good ones.

Mary
