I think I'm lost...
I'm installing a heated seat. Rather than risk leaving it on with the bike off I would like to install a relay. I'm thinking to just tap the rear brake light (running light circuit). I have a 2006 AE. Can anyone point me to the correct wire to tap into?

Note, not looking for the circuit that activates when the brakes are applied. I'm looking for the wire that runs the running light circuit.

It is light blue and runs along the left side. It's not the brake light wire, but the tail light wire. I think the same one Alan is pointing you to. I just don't remember if it has a red stripe...

By description we are both talking about the same wire. The FSM schematic says that it is a light blue wire with a red stripe.

My '06 is straight light blue, for the tail/running light, don't see a red tracer on it anywhere. Might be a red tracer forward of the connector (under the left side panel, but under the seat is just light blue.

Spliced into the blue wire and connected the relay. Heated seat works perfect and now I don't have to worry about accidentally leaving the seat on after shutting down. Especially important since I have the AE model.

Many thanks for the help!

Another way to know which wire to use would be to use a "test light" that mechanics use, the one with which you pick at the wire. After you are gounded on the bike, you would pick at the wire of choice to see if you have " light" with the bike ignition off. If you do, wrong wire, this one is live. You would want one that lights up ONLY when the ignition key is turn "on" or "accessory". That way, you're making sure the wire you use is not live in the "off" position.
