I'm pretty pissed off. I was counting on carving some trails in fresh powder, but fine, I'll come to freaking Winters and ride in the flats with you girls. See you all at 7.

WTF??

I guess I'll have to post up a ride from our Grass Valley group who will still ride up the hills. Forecast is dry all day.

Perhaps this is a Harley forum? (No offense Carver, I believe you would ride in weather.)

Flatlanders :p

OK, I'll never admit you guys were right. Got home from Chrome about 4:30 and 48 degrees just before it started to rain. Had to light a fire to warm up the house and it's raining steady now.

Sure wish I was camping about 6,000'

Rolling back into Sacramento well after 6, the sky was getting dark and angry to the east. Freaky stuff, huh Dougie?

You were right about the Memorial Day weekend weather up thataway.

Mendocino was beautiful. Sunny and in the 60's.

Stewarts Point - Skaggs Springs Rd. on the way back. Very nice.

Again, I hope everyone made it home safely. (A couple of the boys had promised their wives they'd be home for dinner.

There'll be hell to pay.

and what a Motely Crue!

Dang, and I spent all day on tractor discing up Biblical levels of grasshoppers.

We ran into a steady rain on 128 after OM and Mark bugged out on Skaggs Springs. We went into Healdsburg to see if they were waiting. Nope, so we headed east and got into steady rain on Silverado TR and then on 128 to Lake Berryessa. As far as I can tell, this cloud was only over our head because there was a ring of sunlight in nearly all directions. Got parked at 6:30, grilled a steak and opened a bottle of wine. :yahoo:

Logged 416 miles by the GPS today. I have lots of pictures, and will upload identifying images of the culprits soon.

LOL, it seems we arrived in Sacramento ahead of OM and Mark. Turns out the Irishman has a 60 mile bladder, and he was hiding behind a tree At the Sonoma Lake vista point as we zoomed by. We could blame it on the 16 Oz Red Bull up the road in Gualala but...

There is a better answer

Doesn't change the fact I'm still slow.

The day started at 7:00 AM in Winters at some place called Putah Creek Restaurant. Everyone was happy I brought a camera. Link to pics

This looks worthy, and it had to last all day.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR005.jpg

Passable. Thanks Mark

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR006.jpg

OMG! I'm old people now!

Wrapping up the doilies and taking care of general gossip before rolling....hey! get on the bikes!

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR010.jpg

Father Michael offers a blessing to the pavement before we leave...God help us!

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR011.jpg

Okay, this is more like it. On the road. Is it time for lunch yet?

Well it is Memorial Day weekend. There were some double yellow passes, including the abundant Harley contingent. MEM was not sited.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR023.jpg

As I recall this was the first stop for the small bladder crew, about 20 minutes out.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR024.jpg

Honest guys! It's not me! I only stopped because SacramentoMike looked distressed.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR026.jpg

Proof

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR034.jpg

Ready to roll after the quilting bee.\ and Anaconda wrestling event.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR028.jpg

Wow, Napa and no stops yet!

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR029.jpg

Stop #2 in Booneville. Lots of chickens, chicks, roosters, goats, cows. It's all just too much. OM is going to lay another egg.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR035.jpg

Mark: "Guys! We gotta get outta here! I got wood!

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR036.jpg

Ewoks in the Redwoods. If you ever wondered if the Clearwater Lights make a differnce....that is SacramentoMike, Garry and the invisible man, Old Michael bringing up the rear.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR041.jpg

SacramentoMike misplaced his painters tape.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR047.jpg

A strategy meeting. Please feel free to caption.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR048.jpg

OM goes incognito

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR049.jpg

An epiphany!

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR053.jpg

OM stands in a field, and this time does not water the flowers.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR059.jpg

Heading into Mendocino after a great twisty ride up the PCH....That's still a strange color for a FJR. Buick Burgandy.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR067.jpg

We leave OM in search of another place to mark his territory and go to Mendocino Head. If OM knew we were heading to the Head, he'd have been all over it.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR077.jpg

A lovely day at the Head

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR085.jpg

SacramentoMike tries out the Hippie Bench. It is a famous fixture here, and a geocache for those of you who partake of the GPS games.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR082.jpg

Color

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR082.jpg

Yellow Lupine (no OM was NOT here)

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR084.jpg

Mark and Gary have joined us, but OM is still searching for the head.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR086.jpg

Still no OM,

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR087.jpg

Michael shows up and a flood warning was being broadcast for Mendocino, so we beat a hasty retreat back south to Gualala.

Weird tree

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR101.jpg

OM and SM contemplate playing in the kiddy castle at Bones. Deciding against an arrest warrant, we move on as the restarurant is full, and we are running short on time.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR103.jpg

"Don't take my picture"

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR104.jpg

My last image is OM consuming a tall 'Red Bull' as Gary, SM and I pull out to Skaggs Springs.

2012-05-26MendocinoFJR105.jpg

We got passed by OM and BF on the goat trails of Skaggs Springs. What a great time. Unfortunately we failed to meet up at the last watering hole. We hit some moderate rain and cautiously picked our way through the twisties until reaching Lake Berryessa, where we were able to open it up again. Got back home at 6:30.

I'd ride you you guys again. Remember...drink less..ride more.

Nice report Tom...wish I was there to ride it with you guys.

How was Skaggs Springs Rd? :yahoo: You guys would leave me in the dust, but it would still be fun riding it. :)

Skaggs Springs delivered. As you know the eastern half is perfect high-speed sweepers (with a 30 mph speed limit). No LEO presence was observed in spite of the Memorial weekend. Traffic as a bit dense relatively speaking. You really had to watch your line through the goat trail section to be tight in the inside of those low-visibility right turns on the 1-1/2 lane road with no centerline.

FWIW, as I recall, Michael told the old guys in Booneville to jump, and this is what happened. We had just paid $4.89/gallon for fuel, so you'd think we'd feel a bit lighter.
