E4 - I studied and thought about the best way to mark and drill the hole and then said the heck with it and eyeballed it and adjusted as I went, turned out great! Glad I made the R&Gs one of my first farkles, I dropped the bike in the garage the next week! Only cost was to replace the "bobbin." In the fall the spacer was driven inside the bobbin shaft - I originally thought the bolt bent and ordered 2 bolts. Took the bobbin off to find the bolt ok and the bobbin hosed. If you ever need a bolt, I've got one I'll send you on the house.

I believe the template is something that is included from Bike Johnny if you buy the sliders from them.
Espia4ci, thanks for the information. I was out riding this weekend and did not make time to install the sliders. I did peek through the slots in the cowl and saw where the engine mount bolts are. I got the same idea as JimLor and might just eyeball the pilot hole if I'm feeling brave. Otherwise I'll take the fairings off. Probably a good idea to take them off once or twice anyway just to learn how to do it and remove the mystery about all the goodies hidden underneath.
