If man were meant to have only one bike god wouldn't have created two car garages....

Ahhhh, I see! Then if God created the two car garage, then Satan musta come up with the three car variant! :devilsmiley:

I managed to keep my 01 R1 for about 8 weeks before it had to go, on the streets around Pensacola, it is about as much use as tits on a bull.
Had to be the most uncomfortable bike I had every slung a leg over, and I am a dyed in the wool Yamaha man.

Would be a cool track bike for 30-40 minutes at a time, and that is where it belongs, has no business being on the public roads with law abiding citizens.

Makes you want to do BAD things.

Skippy
+1 on 95% of what Skippy just said. (I have ridden much more uncomfortable bikes). The first time I rode my R1 to work, I realized that it was SO capable that it just wasn't alot of fun to ride on the street unless you were doing BAD illegal things. 90 mph feels like school zone speed on an R1. Six and a half years later when I sold it, that oppinion hadn't changed. It's been a loong time since I had less than 3 bikes in the garage at one time, but It got to the point where the R1 was at the bottom of the "what do I want to ride today?" list, so I sold it. I still LOVE sport riding, and am just as likely to take the Derbi to work as the FJR, since the Derbi positively RAILS through the twisties (and I have a VERY twisty ride to work). Oh, sometimes I miss that intoxicating power of the R1, but I don't miss trying to see in my mirrors if I'm being chased by the cops or not. I'm a speed junkie and just can't be trusted with that much hp in my right hand. If I were in the market for another sportbike right now, I'd be looking at the middleweights (600 class). I sat on all of them at the Cleveland bike show. That new ZX-6R is TINY!!! I want one! Now if only I didn't have all that tuition to pay for my kid. :(

Teach the Kid to Ride the R1, what other education do ya need....... :D ...........j/k

Uncaged B)

I would have to say what many here have already.

If you can afford it, you need both.

A sport bike for the short highly spirited rides, the FJR for the longer distance stuff or for two up riding.

If you get both then you could sell the one you don't use that much if you were so inspired, however chances are you will end keeping both bikes. Life is good!!!

WISDOM spoken here!

BTW, welcome to the site, rivgar; you'll fit in nicely here.

The only thing that should normally interfere with this kind of clear thinking is a woman. And if that's the case, you need to get rid of the woman. Otherwise, she will eventually find some other reason to leave and take half (or more) of what you've busted your ass to acquire.

Hey, not true!

If you can afford it, you need a fast bike, a sport tourer and a regular cruiser!

And she needs her own set of bikes, too!

<LOL>

Hmmm... Ok, I got the cruiser (Harley) , i have a kind of sport bike (Bandit, heck ,it's paid for!)

and I'm looking at a used 05 FJR....

Now all I want is the Victory Hammer, a new pickup and a 5ver! :D

Then I'l look for a nice old rich boy friend with one foot in the grave....or a nice young'en! <ROFFL>

You know, acording to Einstien's theory of relativity, the closer to the speed of light you travel, time actually SLOWS DOWN.

So, if we all ride fast enough, we might just live forever...

there's another thing...

If you're only 2 years old, 1 year is 1/2 of your life...

if you 50, then 1 year is 1 /50..

So mathematically, the older you get the faster time goes! <ROFL>

I dont' want to live forever, just long enuf to ride to everywhere! <BG>

Exactly! We have a two car garage and actually keep a CAR in it. There's plenty of room for four bikes parked diagonally, one down the middle, and the project bike on the bench.

Of course, the FJR is parked nearest the door. First one out of bed each morning gets to ride it to work.

Man, these 3am shifts are tough!

Wow... you guys are wierd! ;)

I have a carport... two bikes there ( one slightly damaged at the moment)

and the Jeep sits outside.... <BG>

How do you like your Feejer now after getting to ride it a while?

My Blackbird is going NOWHERE. Nowadays, it is my primary LD Rally bike, and it's going to be seeing a LOT of Endurance rallies this coming year.... Cal 24.... Utah 1088... and another, very extreme event later in the summer
Yes I've been out of the loop. So can anyone explain this to me or post a link so I can get caught up?
