Radar detecto connect to helmet

This has probably been discussed somewhere but I can't find it--- How do you connect your radar detector's warning to helmet speakers. I have a Pasport 9500i

On my gen 1 I ran it thru the starcom. There is probably a bluetooth method and others will be along to help.

Sena has a device that will help you to do this .... I dont remember the part number ... Check their website. It is pretty clear ...

I used to use an amplirider to wire my detector, 2-way radio, and gps to my helmet. It worked fine but I had to deal with the wire to my helmet. And I had a separate wire for the microphone.

I switched to a SENA SMH10 headset and a SENA SR10 mixer. The SR10 takes the GPS, detector, and 2-way radio as input. I have both a GMRS radio and a CB, but can only use one at a time with the SENA mixer.

Another option is the SM10, which is stereo but does not allow for a 2-way radio.

Either way, you pair the headset with the mixer and it works fine.

escort sells a ground loop isolator and works good . only problem I've had, is the output jack on my 9500ix somehow has failed. I sent the radar detector in and they fixed it under warrenty.after x amount of time it won't send alert into helmet again. not really sure what the issue is but I now rely on the red alert led on the smart cord. sometimes I wish I had the alert led in the corner of my visor. at night its easy to see the alert led, but you get the sun behind you and shines on the led. not sure what's the best senerio. . you will need ground loop isolator. at least i did. my 2 cents

Yes, I was getting noise from the Escort RD until I added their ground loop isolator. It was not really annoying, but would cause the Sena mixer to transmit to the headset almost constantly and that ran the batteries down faster than necessary.

the SENA bluetooth router is super sweet. i can put bluetooth my iphone, radar detector and whatever into my helmet if i wish.

I plug the audio output jacks of my V-1 radar detector and Zumo 550 GPS into a Sena SM10 Bluetooth transmitter, which sends to a Sena SMH10 headset mounted on my helmet. I have the helmet clamp with the 3.5mm headphone jack, and plug in custom-molded ear phones for sound isolation.

It works well for me.

Both the SM10 and SMH10 last about 14 hours on a single full battery charge, so for very long days I either recharge them during a meal stop, or plug them into a USB charger connected to a Powerlet outlet on panel D. (For the helmet headset, I sometimes use a portable USB power block in the Napoleon pocket of my riding jacket to recharge while riding. You can use both units while they're connected to a power source.)
