I sometimes get false laser detects when the sun is about 2:00 and reflects off the screen. It's rare, but intense summer sunlight at just the right angle has all the spectrums.
There are the laser distance finders on some cruise control systems and the high mounted stop lamp on some cars and trucks will set off the laser alert if you stop too close to them. The LED's in some of the high mounted stop lamp arrays are at the same frequency as laser apparently.
Don't be put off by all the cases of false alerts and false signals. They can be helpful in knowing your detector is still working correctly. I have turned the volume down on my V1 on accasion only to stop behind a car I KNEW should set off the laser alert with the high mounted stop lamp (GM Trailblazers are best for this) and realized the V1 was not alerting....because I had the volume turned off. Know motion detectors and automatic door openers are also handy for continously checking radar bands.

I have had my Escort indicate LASER, a solid signal for several seconds, on two ocasions when there were no LEOs.
The first was while passing a rural resort and someone told me that some of the range finders on cameras will set off the detector so I figured I was having my picture taken
The second time was on a remote rural road where there were no buildings for miles. No other vehicles and no place for LEO to hide. I can't guess what set it off that time.
