The fan does not appear to be centered on the radiator but instead is mounted to the right of center. It is powered only when the temp. gauge shows 4 or more bars. For temps below this the fan is unpowered and it freewheels from air flow through the radiator.

Do the freewheeling fan blades reduce the air flow through the right side of the radiator? Does the freewheeling fan cause more air to exit out the left side?

1.) yes, but it's part of the overall design. Impact is minimal. Do not remove it.

2.) No, it's insignificant.

The truth to this matter is the engine really is not too hot. Really! It's the trapped heat under the fairing, exiting in concentrated form in only a few exit zones that is the problem. Cooling off the engine with a PCIII, drilled thermostat, or better coolant will help reduce heat felt by the rider--but not much. Properly tuning the EGR helps a lot, or so at least that is my understanding.

Rethink whatever your plans are for the fan. Think "redirect heat" with cromeit mod, extra tank insulation, AC foam, or removing some plastic under the seat (to create a vacuum to draw heat away from the side).

BTW, welcome to the forum. :D
