I remember seeing at least one pic with an FJR with one of those before. It looks like he makes a ton of those for a bunch of different bikes.

Yeah, I checked out their website, and they make guards for just about anything. I'm always a little leery about buying from overseas but I just might.

Old Dog

I have one and their great!

The airways are greater than the Bike Johnny version but having used each for a season conclude there is no discernable difference in the effect on temperature. As such, I prefer the BJ version but only because it lets less crud thru in winter

Thanks to everyone for the input. I checked their feedback and it's 100%!!. I think I'll give it a go and I'll let you all know how it works out.

I asked the same thing quite a while back. A few have used the UK guard. It is reported to be of excellent quality, but a little harder to install than the Cox.

I never ended up buying it. I still have my home made guard on my radiator. It consists of a furnace filter screen with the same plastic fiber mesh backing. About 10K miles on it and it's doing pretty well. I have a Fenda Extenda, so that does keep some debris out of the rad. But I've not had any major stikes that I can tell. My set up will NOT endure the same kind of abuse that the milled guards can give you.

Good luck with that guard. Let us know how it works out. Pics would be great.

I have one from coxracing, great fit, easy install.
How does the CoxRacing guard install? I don't understand how it could get much simpler than hanging it over the front of the radiator and tightening one bolt. I'm not arguing, I just want as few headaches as possible even if the part costs more.

I do like the looks of the UK guard but if the CR unit is as easy to mount I might try it. My decision is to be indecisive, and it shows.

CoxRacing has a single bolt as well, the one at the bottom of the radiator that goes "left-right". Just undo that, place the guard in (fits great, like the radiator was made for it), and put the bolt back through the same way along with the bracket on the guard along. Very easy. They give you some zip ties for the top, but it tucks in behind the horns, and I've never had any trouble with it moving, so I didn't bother with the top zip ties. They do give you some stick on foam "spacers" so that there's a little space between the guard and radiator.

I installed a Cox radiator guard in about ten minutes, and I'm far from being the sharpest knife in the drawer. Worked fine. May be a little pricey for what you get, but then aren't all motorcycle accessories? If I had it to do again, I'd probably go to Home Depot and find the stuff and make my own. But I'm happy. :yahoo:

I've got one on my FJR - they really look the goods, especially with the lazer cut FJR logo in the middle. Plus they're shiny!

Looks nice. Ordered one myself. I've been riding the FJR for 3 years (about 23k+ miles) and live down .5 mile of dirt/gravel road. No Fenda Extenda. Not sure what guys have been doing to damage their radiators but I figure it is time to stop playing Russian Roulette and get a guard.

But still no fenda extenda? It sure does help.

I've been using the Cox Racing rad-gaurd for a couple of years. The Fenda Extenda went on (i think) some time in the past year.

I use both. The F-E helps keep stone chips to the fairing chin minimized.

The one shown on e-bay seems to be a lot thicker and that type of design has (in the past) created a lot of discussion about how it might affect air flow.
