Was gonna get this Yam 250 Exciter, just for something to play with. But I gotta tell ya-it just wasn't doin' it for me. I had in mind a Yam of the RD persuasion, a 2 stroke classic I could restore and have fun with, but every one thinks theirs is worth a fortune, and few are. That little single 250 4 stroke would be different, but my heart wasn't in it. Well, something popped up, funny sometimes how providence takes care of fools like me. Anyway, bought this today.

It's all there, tool kit, air pump, it's stock, it's complete, but for a fuel petcock, it runs and all 6 gears work, it's got 14,000 miles, and in a year or two I expect it will be mint. It better turn out as nice as I hoped, I got a Performance Award going to buy it...and didn't even mind ;) :p

Cool....and it already has the "classic" license plate. What kind of oil you running in it? :D

My older brother had one of these- I think it was a 67 or 68, with clip-on handlebars.

Vibrated like something you'd buy in a specialty shop.

Rad, that is one very complete bike. Excellent restoration project.

I'm jealous...

 
Wow. Posi-Force Lubrication. Sounds like something borrowed from the back of a tube of KY. Is Senator Craig selling off all his possessions, of just the one bike?

Speaking of borrowed, I didn't know Suzuki also made the Honda 305 Dream.

"FULL BORE" Racing Oil-a period 2 stroke oil "Designed Especially For Oil Injection" :p

The guy I bought it from actually gave me a Oct 1966 copy of Cycle magazine, with a big article on "Modifying the Suzuki X-6 For Traffic, Trail, or Track". I mean, how cool is that? He had quite the collection of bikes, including a brand new R75 Toaster Tank Beemer, complete down to the "towel"---

I still remember being blown in the weeds through some twisties by an RD 350 when I was on my 78 GS1000...or should I say smoked by an RD 350. I think it was Kenny Roberts riding that thing.

The original road tests show the X-6 did a 15.1 1/4 mile, and topped out over 100 mph, not bad for such a tiny bike, it weighs in at 297 lbs. :eek:

Rad - I had one of those - traded a 1966 Suzuki 150cc Tourer for it in 1967. You'll love it. I used to burn up those old Harleys at traffic lights. Pretty funny! It's way quick for a 250.

 
HEY RADMAN!THAT WAS MY FIRST SERIOUS BIKE!1966 I believe!Anyway I still got a GT500 and the place for parts is Paul Miller In Conneticut.Most T20's will run a long long time.The only problem now is finding someone with the jigs to do a crank rebuild.Seals,Bearings,Spokes,decals,spockets and chains are easy to find.The odd rubber parts like the wheel dampers can be a lot more difficult.I do know someone that can make a mold for most of the parts but you better have deep pockets.I run Klotz in my GT500 because I like the smell of it and it fouls my plugs less.Love that veggie cooking out the tailpipe.The safest injector oil is Belray SI7.It dominated the marketplace in the 70's
