A friend of mine has a business that I am trying to get to be a sponser. He has a new in the box PCIII for a GenII he was wanting to raffle there. Would that be a conflict of interest? Or still a type of sponsership? He's trying to recoup some of the cost of it,and we could sell tix for $5 a pop. Good idea or bad idea. wanted to ask you guys before I gave him any kind of decision.

If it is a raffle, where do the proceeds go?

How much is a PC worth?

If he wants x dollars for it and it sells xxx in raffle tickets where do the other xx go?

Likewise if tickets dont sell as many as he would like, does it still sell?

doesn't sound like a "sponsor" to me in the traditional notion but might be ok.

ok. Let me give some background.

He ordered it new for me since we thought the PCIII on my bike wasn't working. Turns out it wasn't hooked up properly. So now it's just sitting in his shop doing nothing. Hence the thought of a raffle to recoup some of his dealer cost.

Now, I tried to ask this from him for a door prize, but he made mention that not everyone there will be on a GenII. Good point, hence another point of the raffle.

What if, we do the raffle at say $10, and make it to were the proceeds over his cost go to a charity? Say Make a Wish or American Cancer Society, or something along those lines? Would that be wrong?

If ANYONE thinks this is a bad idea, please say so. I will not be offended to tell him that we could not do it.

But yes, to answer aquestion. It would still sell no matter how many tix get sold. His cost was $250.

I am OK with the idea of the proceds to charity (call me Charity please  )

But it is not really a "sponsorship" in the sense we (raffle buyers) are essentially buying the item from him, and anything over the cost is for "good"

Its a gamble (almost a sure thing that it will recoup the cost) Especially if tickets are sold online prior to EOM and you need not be present to win. That would garner half the board on gen 2.

anyone else want to chime in here?

Hmm.... now that's a good idea. Maybe raffle it to the board with a preloaded map. I wonder if the board gods would go for that? He is still interested in donating an additional prize for EOM, but that was just an idea. I'll send a message to Iggy,WC, and Slappy. Thanks for the input Fence.

I like the idea of a raffle on the board instead of strictly at EOM. If we have raffles at EOM I feel that to be fair, there needs to be raffles to benefit either gen... or have a raffle for Gen 1 & another for Gen 2... something of that sort.

Glad to hear that your bud is willing to help, though. Good going Dave!

Agreed, I think this is a better way to handle it.

Oh, Happy Monday to ya...
