Anyone using the RAM mounting system for a Garmin 2610? I'm completely confused about which parts I need. I'm thinking a right handle bar location would be good. Any advice?

I've been using the left mirror hole.

A Ram-11M to a Standard Arm to a Barbell to a Standard Arm to a Standard Base to a Ram Cradle. Very little if any vibration, easily adjustable, quickly detached and set up. I have it positioned over the clutch reservoir. Works great for me.

I just can't see mounting that big ol honking GPS on a handlebar. I know there are many that do it - I just think you are all fookin nuts! :haha:

So it's a Techmount stemstand for me.

I do know the RAM stuff can be confusing, so if you really want to go through with that 'tard way of mounting the GPS  , then I would highly recommend you CALL the good folks at Cyclegadgets.com.

They are extremely helpful.

Hold it, Skooter! You gotta give me some info on the Techmount Stemstand! I see the logic in not putting a pound or so of hardware on one handlebar.

Of course, I am a cheap bastard, so money will play a part in the decision. :D

red, here's mine with the camera mounted v. the GPS:

The SatRad is sitting on the TM that mounts into the spare hole on the control housing.

And Skooter is right, that GPS hanging off the left bar is too big, it's in the dirty airstream. Hell I didn't even like my SatRad like that so I got a lower profile one...

Hmm...looks interesting. Can you still view the instruments and id10t lights? TWN, is that the long or short arm? Hey, hey, on the Techmount, that ain't no personal question! :D

I'm definitely not putting the GPS out in the airstream on a handlebar. And I forgot about the need to get it away from me a bit. My riding glasses aren't bifocals.

What about a base plate? Anything extra to buy? This was a gift GPS, so I ain't complaining.

Thanks for the info, Skooter and TWN.

That's the long arm and when I adjust the stem for the GPS the IP is completely visable. I would get the short arm, though. I'm gonna order one up now that I have a different set up for the video camera. The stem mount ships complete with the new stem nut and plate. You just need to provide the bleeding knuckles and GPS/GPS mount.

Techmount stuff is generally more pricey than the RAM stuff, but I think that you get what you pay for. Not knocking RAM however, I prefer RAM stuff for the clutch/brake mounts, and have a RAM mount for my radar detector.
