Excellent program and rated close to paid programs.Down load Microsoft Security Essentials and run a full scan and all will be good. Bill loves all his PC's
I use bitdefender ($30 for use on up to three PC's)
Also, this is a great time to plug an external harddrive for backup. And, be sure you have your Recovery CD's handy, or know how to get to the Restore Partition on your harddrive (useless, though, if your HDD craps out, so get the discs from your manufacturer).
If you are having issues with things not being removed, boot up your PC in Safe Mode, go into Start>run>msconfig>startup and uncheck those programs that don't seem familiar to you (USE CAUTION!!!)
A lot of scareware will plant itself in your memory and make itself part of your boot process. Safe Mode loads only the minimal Microsoft drivers.

A good defense is a multi-layered one:
Go to download.com and download, install, update, and run these in order:
1) Ccleaner (deletes Temp files so next scans take less time)
2) superantispyware
3) Malwarebyte's Antimalware
And, drop the Norton and MacAfee crap. BitDefender is a wonderful paid solution ($29 for three PC's) or use Microsoft Security Essentials for free.
Place those icons in a Maintenance folder on your desktop and then run them every couple weeks.
If you STILL have issues, get ComboFix, rename the file after you download it, and then run it.
