I've just rolled past the 3k mark on my odometer and have noticed that my bike seems better then ever. I've loved my feejeer since day one but I can't get over how much I really enjoy this bike. Things just appear to have gotten even quieter and smoother over the past 100 miles or so. Is this my imagination or can I expect even more from this bike as time goes on? :yahoo:

I noticed shifting became really, really smoth at about 10K. I never miss neutral from second at a light. All I have to do is think about it and it happens.

Uhm....you've been assimilated. It's a sickness and there is no known cure. :D

uhhh...you could be going deaf. Had your hearing checked lately?

As part of the assimilation process (though unstated and unpublished) a brain test given before purchase. Imagination, denial and compartmentalization are just three of the requirements of ownership. This same test is also given by psychics before you are allowed on the FJR Forum.

Seriously, there is a "wear in" range when the gearbox becomes smoother and there seems to be less engine noise. Typically around 3-5K miles. One opinion is that it takes the FJR that long to "train" you.

I think my bike never felt better than when I had put new tires (road pilot2's) on at 6k miles. The bike was well broken in, much smoother, and the old bridgestones and been somewhat flat spotted in the back and cupped in the front, the new tires made the bike feel better than new.

Seems like mine is still getting smoother after 18K miles. Maybe I am just getting smoother on the bike!?!

I think it is 10k where the bike is better than new.

Or as someone else said it has finally gotten me trained.

When I sold my 05 at 10k for the 07 - I was bothered that the old bike was nicer to ride. As I approach 10K on the 07 it is getting just as smooth.

At about 10 or 11K, I noticed the mpg improved by a fair amount. Bike was equally smooth and strong before and after. Has a bit of a rattle now - service guy says he's seen quite a few cam chain/cam chain tensioners that start acting up in the 45 - 50K mile range (My '05 is at just over 50K) - but no loss in power or mpg yet.

50,400 miles on my '04, and it's running GREAT. Gas mileage stays in the lower to mid 40's...can't complain.

The more I ride my FJR, the worse my mileage gets. It doesn't have anything to do with the bike breaking in, it has to do with the rider! :yahoo:

25K and still don't see anything below 38, but have seen above 50 when I really "grandma" the thing.

Like you, I've recently hit the 3K mark. I loved the bike from the beginning, but now it's become 'my baby'. My only complaint from the beginning was that the tranny seemed a little clunky. Recently, it's become as smooth as I could imagine. She's a beautiful machine!

Good riding to you.

Had my FJR for a month now and 4500 miles on the ODO, I also find that the bike is getting smoother. I am still working on smoother shifting, seems like it to change gears at 4-5000rmp. The Honda did not break in fully till 10,000 miles, I expect the same for the feejer.

It is a fantastic machine :yahoo: .
