Hi gang, my 06 FJR has had some rear brake grab on 2 different occassions now. Once when it had about 1500 mi. on it and again around 5300 mi. The first time I noticed it was when I had been riding from home about 20 min. and the bike just started slowing for no apparent reason even after I was in the throttle. I noticed the brake smell and pulled over, and as soon as I came to an almost stop, the rear brake released. This same thing happened just a couple days ago with the same scenario. The rotor appears to have normal wear with no deep scars. My dealer says he hasn't heard of any other of the FJR's having this problem. Anyone had the same? Any comments or info would be appreciated.

You don't have an abs light also, do ya? Lube the rear brake lever pivot point.....there, my good deed for the day is done.

The pivot point seems to be good, but I'll give her s shot..

This may be a little off but this has been reported on automobiles with sticking brakes from the deterioration of the brake hose (inside). Now I know your bike is fairly new, and the hose should in no way be deteriorating, but you may have some foreign material in the hose that is preventing the pressure from releasing and causing the brakes to remain partially applied. It sure wouldn't hurt to bleed the system, in fact, I would do a total fluid replacement.

One thing you may wish to check is the rear brake master cylinder. If the return hole gets partially blocked this will cause the brake to drag. Try flushing the rear brake fluid and check for contamination (dark color, or flecks of metal in the fluid) if you see these disassemble the entire system and clean. If you are reluctant to do this take it to a shop you trust and have them do the tear down. Good luck and keep the rubber side down.
