rear shock mounting on gen II

I have looked around and it looks like it is possible to put a gen 1 shock on a gen 2 but the difficulty of doing so is not explained. Has anyone done this? If so how hard is it?

Covered under the 08 FJR one more time FJR Model Matrix. Shocks of all years are interchangeable...only a small asterisk about potential small valving and springing changes.

So mounts are the same too? Or just the shocks?

Mounts, shocks, space between things, polarity, positron spin.....all of it. Just like we don't stress that a tire from an '03 fits on a '12 or that the valve stem is the same. You have an FJR shock it's going to bolt right up in all model years.
