It’s not the world’s fastest Indian, but for now it’s the smallest.

The recently reborn Indian Motorcycle company has resurrected the legendary Scout name for its new entry level bike.

The $10,999 cruiser is powered by an all-new 69 cubic inch twin that’s rated at 100 hp and 72 lb-ft of torque and finished with heritage design cues. A modern aluminum frame helps provide a low curb weight of 558 pounds, and a low seating position of 25.3 to go with it. The Scout’s long gas tank hearkens back to its namesake’s style, as does its standard tan leather solo saddle.

The wheelbase is 61.5 inches, there’s 5.3 inches of ground clearance, and maximum lean angle is reported to be a very substantial 31 degrees. High- and low-speed maneuverability, says Indian, is exceptional. With a solo bucket seat in tan leather, and a 60-degree liquid-cooled V-twin, a dohc mill developed in-house by Polaris for enhanced durability and reliability, is a modern design with closed-loop fuel injection and a ride-by-wire throttle. The transmission is a six-speed overdrive unit.

FINAL DRIVE belt drive, 141 tooth

RECOMMENDED FUEL 91 octane

FUEL CAPACITY 3.3 gal.

FRONT BRAKE 298mm rotor, 2-piston caliper

REAR BRAKE 298mm rotor, 1-piston caliper

This is perhaps the best looking and spec'ed cruiser ever. Looks like it might be fun to putt around on.

So long as you don't have to "dress up" like a pirate.

It's got yur name on it Alan. :)

Attenuated for 91 octane? ..a bit strange for a cruiser. And, I loved that movie 'the fastest Indian".

OK Guys, after spending hours in my closet and trying on so many outfits, I'm now ready to ride!
Get out of the closet Spud. Any good pirate knows to get thy butt straight down to the Motor Store and carefully choose your wardrobe from the Motor Company Branded riding gear. I'd really hate to have my leather tassels clash with my assless chaps.

I know how much you like(d) the Vmax, but that Indian just looks better to me. And like WNY, I'm not into the chopper look.
I'm just saying that the outline and form is very (very) similar but the details ain't. Mad Max was fun, brutal, but fun.

There wasn't a whole lota love for Max except at WOT. At the same time I had a Honda V-4 that was very FJR like and I did like it a lot.

My guess...

It's an 1150cc V twin and pumping out 100 HP. I'm guessing the compression ratio is a bit higher than those 45 HP hardleys.

Edit - Nope, just checked. 9.5:1. So that isn't it.

Maybe its the timing advance to eek out those HP rpms?

Why did they go with 91 octane? That's just dumb!
To emphasize part of what Fred said, an 1150cc 2 cylinder engine is going to have a substantially sized bore with a lot of flame front to control. In other words, detonation comes a little too easily with that territory and more octane is required to tame it.

Would be interested in seeing a Scout Sport with twin discs up front and maybe a 2 into 1 exhaust.
