On the one hand, I'd find 3 recalls in 1 year annoying if I were an owner. On the other hand, it's good to see that Kawasaki gets right with the program when they determine something is wrong with the bike. Link

+1

I maintain the popular belief that, if you're gonna buy a newly-released vehicle, you have to accept that there may be kinks that need to be worked out. As such, I prefer to buy later model years.

Whew...good thing it isn't ticking valves or ignition switch failures. Those new owners would be screwed.

WOW! It sounds like I might be double screwed between the FJR's ignition switch failures and the C14's KIPASS. Anyone want to take bets on which one will fail first? Maybe I should just buy a BMW so I would not have to worry about breaking down.

Is it really a surprise that a new generation vehicle has lots of problems during its maiden year? This is the exact reason that I will not even buy a gen III FJR its first year out. Too many untested mechanisms and the first year buyers are always the guinea pigs. It is nice that Kawasaki is recognizing the issues and stepping up to handle them.

It's good that Kawai is getting things lined out on the C 14 I thought about buying one. This recall stuff is the main reason I didn't. Ya think when they get it all correct they won't have to worry with it for another 20 years. Just like the last connie.

BMW has been really excellent on getting out front on the recall issues in the first year. Sounds like Kawasaki is doing a good job too. I think Yamaha did a good job too. Kudos to all of them. Recalls are a natural part of introducing new models, although naturally all marques try to minimize TGW (things gone wrong).

Yeah. Too bad that BMW doesn't consider cratered final drives a recall issue. If it did, perhaps their problems wouldn't be on-going year after year.

One of the guys I ride with has the C14. The recall work has been done quickly and competently. Better than some manufacturers that deny a problem exists.

Yup,

Kudos to Kawasaki for taking care or their customers. New platforms are always gonna have a few bugs.
