I just purchased a 2004 with less than 2200 miles on it. The service bulletin for the trunk has not been complied with so I am going to assume that the other SB has not been complied with either.

My question is: Will Yamaha still work the bulletins on an 04? The place the PO bought the bike from is no longer in business from what I gathered from the conversation I was having with him at the time I bought the bike.

I'd be happy to do all of the work myself if I could find the part number for the base. The throttle position sensor should be updated in the Yamaha catalog, so that one probably isn't a problem to get.

Recalls can still be done. Any Yamaha dealer will do it for you. They have to do the work, though if you want to do it yourself you can sometimes make a deal with the dealer.

If the bike is on a real title not a salvage title any Yamaha dealer is required to get the parts and do the work for free under the law. Call Yamaha and have the VIN number. Ask them what has been done and what has not been done. You can also go to your local Yamaha dealer and they can find out for you. Get the TPS done cause when it failed it is a bitch of a time if you are riding.

When I bought my '06, the top box mounting frame recall was in force, but the dealer told me that rather than fix every bike that was out there, Yamaha had gone to including the recall repair parts with each top box sold.

If this is true, and you've already got a top box, then you will want to get that recall done. If you don't have a top box, you might just deal with it when/if you get one.

You mean it won't fail if yer pushin it? only when ya ride it? :p

Cool as I pretty much just push mine around the garage as my mileage will attest

The bike came with the top box when I bought the bike. I got the impression from the PO that he bought the bike as I bought it.

Good title, clean, not salvaged so hopefully Yamaha won't give me any grief when I call them tomorrow.

That being said. Does anybody know a yamaha dealer in the south central Kansas or northern Oklahoma area that they would trust to work on their bike?

A 2004 FJR with only 2200 miles?!?! Score! You bastard!

Good thing you found it before I did. That's half the miles of the one I have.

Was it pristine?

Where are the photos of it?
