Hey STL FJR,

I can use my gazetteer to look at where we were and make up a S&T file to send you if that's okay...or Nate/opt8low should be able to send it to you.

I know I'M WAITING FOR MINE. :)

I'm sure it's coming soon, Nate is probably just sleepin' off the beer buzz from last weekend. :assassin:

I'll gladly put an S&T file together for ya if you want. I'll need it for my future reference anyways...

NATE??????

Jeez I have been called worst, but from you???

No S&T for you now.......

Hey Mark, are any of these roads on the way to West Bend? We gotta start planning for when Petey and I come through on the way to the BMW MOA rally. Less than a month away now (July 12-15), and you're our tour guide! :clapping:
We'll likely be coming into Wisconsin from Dubuque, IA. I went that way to Madison once a couple of years ago. Took 151, nice ride although mostly 4 lane. Gotta be some better 2 lane along that way. Get to work! We're countin' on ya! :yahoo:
Steve,

I have a couple pictures enclosed of the area you want to hit for good roads. Actually I bet petey has already been through all the WI roads being a former West Bender...I don't know muchanything about the Kettle Maraine area of eastern WI but I bet petey knows. I have a route on S&T with some good state roads that you might want to partake. If you interested I can email it to you. These are pretty fun. I didn't bother with county roads 'cuz I really don't know your itinerary. However if you really want to get into the "sticks", I'll put together a county road route or plead with NateDana/opt8low to send you his.

Rough area you want to hit...

Go through Balltown, IA to the Cassville Ferry($5-$6 cash), go up along the WI river to 131, left at 179, right at 27, right at 171, take some cnty roads to get up to 82 & 56. Take 82 east, then north on cnty V to 133 west through Wildcat Mtn, then Rt on 131 to head you on your way to West Bend.

Let me know if you need more help or ideas...

Thanks Mark! I didn't realize Petey was from the West Bend area originally. Guess he will be the ride leader! I've heard the Kettle Moraine road is a good one.

Petey, where are you?

Hey, I'm here. Well, like I told you in the e-mail I sent you, if we want to go north from Dubuque along the Missisippi ( say up to near La Crosse and then go east) we'd have to consider taking a day and a half to go from STL to WB. Which would be ok with me. :glare:

Has to be up North, cause you can play billiards around Monroe, Janesville etc. Oh well the beer is cold and the cheese is great there.

Just got back from SW WI ride, did about 1100 miles in two days with two other FJRs. You guys seem to know most roads but I definately recommend these:

Hwy 95: coming off Hwy 35 in fountain city, north of La Crosse on the river take 95 north north/east - reminds me of the Cherohala Skyway its so damn good (watch out for speed traps on the weekends)

Hwy 162: runs North/South, just South of La Crosse, also off of Hwy 35 along the river

Both great roads, you won't be dissapointed, trust me.

Don't forget 108 thru the Mindoro Cut. After you've ridden a good sufficiency of 'alphabet' roads, you can start on the 'named' roads like: Square Bluff Rd, Pettinger Hill Rd, Wulff Rd. (cont. div)....

IMHO, there must be about two-lifetimes-worth of good riding in WI -- maybe even just the S.W. part?

Don't be carrying a bag of cheese curds in your tank-bag, tho....at least not in the summer. :dribble:

Yeah 162 is good, Mindoro cut is good....Like I said we did alot of letter roads which was fun...the others are a good time, too.

I'd cross at Prairie Du Chien then head east and north from there, or cut across just north of Ferryville on WI 82...unless you really have some good routes in IA.

That's true...both those cities are on the state line...get up into Cheeseland. Oh, and I was kidding about all the curvy roads...they are all straight...do NOT ride into Wisconsin...it is really boring...do not go there...you will not have a good time. :)
