The Storms marketing lingo is superb. If they made all the advances they said they did, this tyre will really stand out as the best. Especially since, IMNSHO the Azarros were the best before this.

I am glad they did something about the front tread cupping. This will make a huge difference, and I'll lay down money that they did something about the slight wobble the Azarro used to have.

I can't wait to try these out!

I've ridden in a lot of serious rain, and for me, there is NO finer wet-weather tire than the venerable Avon Azaros (AV45/AV46 ST combo). This tire have demonstrated unbelievable wet grip for me.
These tires are in the midst of being superseded by the follow-on generation of Avons, the Avon "Storm" AV55/AV56 ST combo). I have a set of the Storms coming to me this week.
 Waiting to hear what Warchild has to say once he mounts those little puppies on the FJR.

Was looking at Pirelli Diablo's but somewhat leery of the way the one minute you think you have plenty of tread left and the next, steel belts are showing through.

Looks like the new Avons' have tread cut pattern that goes across the tread and better able to discern when you might need new rubber. I know most of you liked the older Avon, but I was put off by the "low speed" wobble mentioned by a good number of you.

So......Warchild, did you get the tires yet and have they been mounted on your FJR and what are your initial impressions?

X2 We are all waiting. Warchild, it looks like you got voted to be the guinea pig on this one. :D

If mine arrive tomorrow as anticipated, I'll have a report up Saturday night. Right now I'm turning blue from holding my breath...

Since my Rear tire is losing air pressure (5 lbs. per day) I think I'll replace the Stock tires with Avon Storms...Just ordered them from Southwest.. Hope they have them! Oh, yes I've inspected the rear tire. Can't find any punctures or foreign objects. But, at 5k miles they are nearing the end of their life and they are the dreaded Metzlers.

Anyone got any comments on the Conti Road Attacks on the FJR ?

Thanks,

Nick

Having read all the tyre posts I can find on the Forum, I think that Avons Azarros or the new Storms may be the better way to look, and I too will join the queue for Warchild's initial impressions (or anyone else who has some info)

Thanks all for the suggestions -- did go with the Storms (and the Tire Watch wireless pressure monitor linky)

tire's seem to be fine so far - but haven't had time to run 'em through anything really twisty -- and no rain (?) so far ... murphy's law.

I've had a chance to ride in a light rain storm while commuting. My impression is they are quite good on wet/damp roads. They felt quite planted and all. However, the rain was light and I don't "push" it in the rain. More to come.
