GOD BLESS AMERICA
When the doc saw my MRI before the revision he did in November, he thought he was gonna have to do a microfracture. Same as you, I would have been non-weight bearing (crutches for 6 weeks) and then a **** load of PT. Did they explain what the microfracture does? My sister is a scrub-nurse for the Ortho that did my revision.I had my ACL replaced in my right knee in '86. I have had the right knee scoped twice since. The left knee has been scoped once and eight weeks ago I had Microfracture surgery done on the left knee. Dr. thought I had a torn meniscus but I didn't.
The scopes were just to clean out the knee, recovery was pretty quick, couple of weeks, and without physical therapy. The microfracture was much more invasive and required six weeks on crutches with six weeks physical therapy. I am now at week eight with four weeks of physical therapy left. I was cleared by my doctor and physical therapy to ride again on Thursday. I got home and took my first ride since fall.
Good luck and hope you have a quick recovery.
She said they take a rod about the diameter of a pencil led and punch holes in the bottom of your femur to make it bleed and generate cartilage. **** that, I hope my knees never need cut again!
