Removal of Warning Sticker

but I'm going to hold my breath and do it now, hoping that everybody is not going to jump all over this:

Ya know the little red and white "warning" sticker that came on your bike, right above the gas filler? I've been looking at it now for a couple of months and thinking, "Maybe I ought to just go ahead and pull it off.", but the dealer refused to do it when I bought the bike, stating that they didn't want to screw up the paint on an $800 tank. . . If it doesn't come off in one piece, what is a safe way to get off the "stickum"?

Hair dryer, heat it up peel it right off. Mine came off in one piece with no glue left behind at all. The yami touring windshied came with a stiker on on too, same result using a hair dryer on that as well. By the way, welcome Newbee!

Be careful. The sticker's connected to your main drive shaft.

If you remove it - the bike won't shift to 3rd gear.

I pulled my thumb outta my ass and used my thumbnail... took a while but finished removing the residue w WD-40... then a good coat of wax... Thumb looks great now. (did the same with the sticker).

You think that ones a bitch, wait until you get get tired of looking at swirly 1300 stickers on the fairings. The gas tank was easy compared to those two. Goo Gone didn't faze it. WD40 worked ok, but the 3M finished it off. Used to have a bottle of stuff called Wipe-Away for these types of stickers that worked like magic, can't find it anymore. Peel em off if you want and get the 3M to finish it. Then wax. Like the stickerless look much better.

I understand they took it off the market because it makes your balls fall off....I could be wrong.

I took all the stickers off my last Yamaha 1100, including the tuning forks from the tank. On the FJR all I have done is remove that pesky sticker on the tank. Used a little citrus based solvent and it worked just fine. Can't tell there was ever anything there.

Although my dealer tool it off I am sure that some paint thinner would work well. Just be careful so you don't ruin the the sticker so you can put it back on if you need warranty work.

You guys got guts!! After I build up the nerve to peel off that label, I think I’ll walk right up and rip those damn labels off of my pillow and mattress.
