Did a search, but couldn't find anything other than the fix for the popping and also the ease of getting to other things with the mess of hoses gone...were there any other reasons for this mod? I don't get any popping on my '08 (I use a Dobeck Techlusion FI module) and I may do the mod to get rid of the hoses, but wondered if there were any other gains.

Cleans the top of the motor. Makes spark plygs more accessible. Gives you spare tubing to use when the Mazda blows a small coolant hose.

Lets the o2 sensor, and by extension the rest of the fuel injection system, measure the exhaust gas directly as it comes out of the cylinder rather than having more fresh air injected after the fact.

Wait a minute. The FeeJ has an air induction system? How does it work? How does air get into the motor? I thought it ran on gasoline. I spend a lot of money on gas, now you say it runs on air? How do I do that mod? I did a search of farkles and found no post about the FeeJ mod for running on air. :(

Is this a Friday post?

I did it primarily to get rid of the hoses, which makes doing a TBS a snap now. Plus you minimize chances of a vacuum leak. Secondarily to eliminate the popping, which it does.

Engine looks much cleaner afterwards (see below), and in my case, like factory (yes, I'm too anal, I know :p ). Later.

+1 working on the bike is much nicer with that stuff gone. I got rid of mine promarily to get rid of the pop, I hated it.

Wow, your engine is cleaner than mine! I have some work to do.

I'm going from memory here, and I'm senile, but doesn't the air induction valve only do its stuff on a cold engine, and isn't the O2 sensor only monitored when the engine's warm?
