If the nail is still in the tire, and you're near a compressed air source (or tire pump); it may be better to ride it to a service station or tire place that will then pull the nail and insert a plug. Then, you'll be good to go -- no wrenches needed.

Depending on where you live and what's available locally -- you may need to convince the service technician that everything's cool and you're not going to sue anyone.... Over the years I've been successful in convincing corner gas stations, truck stops, and tire places to just install the plug for me.

Good luck.

If you're going to do any high-speed riding, I'd get it plugged from the inside at the very least. Most of us would just bite the bullet and buy a new tire. Which I'd install myself. Good luck man.

Lots and lots of discussion in previous threads regarding tire repair. Many of us have stuck a sticky string plug in and ridden the tire to it's normal life without incident. No need to remove the wheel to plug it.

Hmmm not so much.

Early poll results here indicate otherwise. 15 to 1 currently would on ride on a plug vs. replacing a tire.

Although certainly not exactly scientific...I think it's safe to say that besides being FAR from most....it's the other direction where MOST of us plug and ride. ;)

Good luck man.

I use safety seal tire plugs. They are the best plugs you will ever find. Gauranteed for life of tire. Self vulcanizing. Found in the off road jeep circles. Phone number 1-800-888-9021. They don't dry out and let air escape.
