Since Europe is getting too small for our long motorcycle trips, we're planning a "coast to coast" (including "Route 66") trip in the USA.

I’ve been looking for some motorcycle rental companies in USA, that hire bike’s in Boston and collect them in California, but the only ones I found only rents Harley’s, Honda’s and BMW’s.

Does anyone knows where we can rent FJR’s, if any ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This site might be of interest. They offer the ride "back" at reduced prices. Not FJRs but maybe something here would fit your plans...

How many days are you thinking of doing, what time frame, and how many bikes??

I know of one... try flyrideusa.com.. I know the do a number of tours in the usa..sounds very high end

they rent fjr's, goldwings, bmw's, st1300's, and others. However I dont know if they do a full cross country

but the can steer you in the right direction. Good Luck & enjoy..

Thanks a lot FJRPierre and 1hellofaride for your kind and prompt replies.

The links that you sent me are great !

I'm trying to organize a 10 day "coast to coast" (Route 66) trip for 6 to 8 riders (or maybe more) members of Portugal's FJR 1300 Group.

Of course the number of riders will depend on the cost of the whole "adventure", but, of course, all shall prefer riding on similar bikes of their owns.

The trip shall only take place next year, on May or June. Could you please let me know if those are nice months to cross the USA (not too hot?).

Thanks again and best regards.

How hot is too hot?

Of those two months, I like May better than June because it is cooler for riding. I am from the midwest at a lower elevation...someone from the west/mountain states will have to chime in to see if there is a chance of difficulties with snow in the passes in May. I doubt there are...but they would know...I don't.

BTW, if you are looking at 2-lane roads, which I presume you are, I would check out the website "MotorcycleRoads.US ". They have some ideas and ratings for roads that will give you a general feel of some good roads to ride in the various states. It will definitely help you plan...as well as Microsoft Streets & Trips.

You probably have checked out or are aware of both of these resources, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
