Some of you may remember that my 2007 FJR was totaled in a hit & run accident in October. I was originally awaiting a new 2009 FJR, but recently found a leftover 2008 in Toledo, OH. I made a deal over the phone (because it's about 1.5 hours away) for $11,799 before taxes and everything. It ended up being a $1300 savings over the deal I had on the 2009. More farkle money :)

Wow, I look like an asshole in that picture. A friend drove me from my home near Detroit down to Toledo, then I rode the bike home. The bike claimed it was 28 degrees the whole way home. My fingers agreed, and went numb about halfway home.

Now for the farkle list:

  • VStream windshield (installed before I left the dealership).
  • Motovation sliders (installed before I left the dealer).
  • Yamaha OEM heated grip kit (installed today; would've been nice yesterday). (click for install details)
  • Black 3M reflective decals for sides and backs of side cases (removed the stock reflectors).
  • Holeshot headers.
  • Titanium Remus Hexacone slip-ons.
  • Motty AFR tuner. (click for install details)
  • K&N air filter (from the wrecked bike) + plans to perform air box modifications.
  • Audiovox cruise control. (click for install details)
  • Garmin Zumo 550 with Techmount steering nut stem mount (survived the accident).
  • Etymotic ER-6i earphones.

I've got plenty to keep me busy this winter :) . I'll post more details about the Motty AFR tuner installation when I get to that part.

Also, look for some items for sale in the coming weeks:

  • Stock headers.
  • Stock mufflers.
  • Stock windshield (sold).
  • Shop manual for 2006-2007 FJR (sold).

And less than 24 hours after I got my brand new bike, it already looks like this:

you can see the reflective decals on the side cases in the background.

Hey U-P,

Great to see ya back on your feet and on 2 wheels again. Me likey the color.

But Holy sh*t Batman at the magnafarkling you're doing. I guess you do have a lot more winter to get through than I do (not to rub it in or anything).

Remember, if you ain't got pix it didn't happen......

Best,

VP

PS - and I guess they never caught up to the mofo that hit ya did they.....what a shame to let a douche-tard1 like that roam.

The Detroit Police can't even process the accident report, so I don't expect that they'll actively search for the guy that hit me. I got more information about the accident from my GPS tracklog than I've gotten from the police so far. I found that I was going 50mph when I was hit, and came to a stop about 75 feet and 11 seconds later. No idea how much of that time was spent hanging onto the bike, flying or tumbling because I was unconscious.

Congrats on the new bike. Glad you recovered well, and that you are getting personal with it right off the bat.

BTW, you dont look like an ____hole, just a dork.

Can we settle on dork hole? :p

Glad you're getting back up there. I too survived a (lower speed) accident in which I was the only douche-tard, and I will attest that the best therapy is in fact getting back up there and riding!

Good news, glad to see the happy ending. Farkling has got to make the sucky winter less sucky. Wish I had a heated garage -- -16 F here this morning.

I'd like the 06-07 service manual when you are ready.

Cheers,

7X

Jeff just so you know the Hexacones will not fit with the Holeshots ......
R
They will after I take them to a muffler shop and hand one of the employees $20 cash to make them fit. Knut at Maxmoto said there should be no problem expanding the flange of the mid-pipe (it's stainless steel).
