Last night (Monday 11.15.10) I obtained a 2008 FJR as a replacement to my 2007 that I left in Clyde Park Montana. I got to ride my new FJR up and down the street just to make sure the bike tracked straight and no evident problems reared its head. Felt good ride a FJR after 2 months being without. I remember when I got the 2007 how powerful it felt and did seem kinda of lurchie (Is that a word). Last night the FJR was as smooth as silk, well maybe a more robust use of words is in order, but none come to me.

The bike still sits at the place where I bought it and I sit here watching the time click down to 9:15. At that time 2 new knees that will be inserted into this body. When I do stop the FJR I can get off and walk more than 50 yards. I am so excited to have these new toys so that MeAsWe and I can finish the National Park Tour we started last year. This time I think we shall try to be in before the sun goes down thou.

It will be a minimum of 6 weeks before I can ride the FJR, but I am sure my friend that goes picks up the bike for me will have a blast.

Dayum , good luck with the operation Willie ! Always nice to have new toys to work on while you recuperate.

+1 - Best of luck with the surgery and recovery.

Very clever of you to schedule your knee maintenance during the winter down time. ;)

(Just joking. I know it wasn't your "choice". )

Good luck with the replacement parts and remember to follow the physical therapy it's called pain and torture for a reason it hurts to get back to normal range of motion but in the end you will love the new knees and the ? 20 year overhaul rate :dribble:

I could not agree more. My Dad had one knee replaced last year at 81. A lot of pain but he said he had been thru worse. Follow the therapy and you will be thankful you did when it is over. You were smart to get both done at once. Quite a few people have done one and then decided against the other from the pain to get back to normal. Heal fast and ride hard. Enjoy both your new tuys.

Hey, they make those Knee joints where I work. Remember that you won't be able to go through the body scanners any more if you decide to fly somewhere. You will have to settle for the groping method.

Hope all goes well,

Dave

I've always found that having something to look forward to helps the re-coop process immensely.

Congrats Willie, and heal up as your body allows.

So, the groping is something to look forward to?

I mean generally, I'm completely up for a good spirited reach around. But not with those screeners the TSA is hiring now.

If they wanna get down with the grope, they need to get some hottie agents in there to try and find my stash. ;)

I had a TKR in '03 with my new '03 sitting at home. The PT guy asked me what my near-term goals were (a month or-so after the operation) -- I said, "To ride my bike to spectate at the races the end of the month." I did -- cane and all (even had a high-speed run against my buddy and his 'Priller Futura).

Good luck

Will be thinking about you! Looking at knee replacement myself. I pray for a speedy recovery. Keep your eyes on the prize. Work hard in the rehab and you'll be in FJR shape in no time!

Good Luck!

Well all, just a short update. THE FJR was picked by a fellow riding friend and brought back to his barn. It sits nestled comfortably between the Connie and the Rebel I own and his VStrom and my other friends Nighthawk. They rode the FJR 2 up to where I am rehab and came in the room with pretty big **** eatin grins. They were beaming and I think my friend has shortened the list of possible replacements for his bike. I am glad they had a blast.

My knees, well they are in. I essentially have gone thru with very little pain from the surgery and cut out the pain meds on day 2. Now PT. That is pure torture but I understand this to will abate and if I dont got thru the torture my recovery is just gonna be longer.

Tomorrow is TG and you all have a great day. Friday I am outta of here and home. Wooo Hoo. Then there will have to be alot of self induced torture. I can't wait for the stiffness to go away. In retrospect having both done at one time was absolutely the right decision.

So thanks for all the kind words

Willie

My hats off to you Willie. So you're proving that parts just ain't parts, right?

Seriously, I was part of a small group that climbed some large hills in Alaska a few months ago. The woman behind me had had a hip replaced twice and was not slowing anybody down a whit. Total attitude on getting through rehab and keeping the ball moving.

I've heard of after-market suspension for the FJR, now we're having it fitted to the riders as well

.

Good luck on your recovery, hope you're back riding soon.

Good luck with the rehab and hope to catch up to you in the spring, as your only about 10 miles north of me.
