There are a few of us here already Wednesday night, but most riders will arrive on Thursday evening. Some of us got together for some strategic planning.. and other stuff, tonight. In the photo below: XCXP (I think), Kilroy, Devanator, and Devanator Jr. Jackson is behind the camera. The 5 of us are going on ride #1 tomorrow, Chadron-Crawford.

We're all alive and well at CFO. After two full days of riding we're preparing for the banquet tonight. This morning 16 of us got an escorted behind the scenes tour of Mount Rushmore. We hiked to the TOP of the sculpture, eventually standing on top of George Washington's head.

We were allowed to park in the employee parking lot.

Here we are on top of Washington's head.

I hope other folks when they get home will be able to post some pics from CFO. In the meantime, here are some more.............

An ice cream and pork break. The restaurant is well known for their pork BBQ; at least well known to Marsha. The rest of us had already started eating our ice cream, when Marsha came to the table with a pile of BBQ pork wrapped in paper. She ate some, then invited the rest of us to dig in.... which we did, much like a flock of vultures on road kill. Devanator liked it so much he then ordered another pound or so. MMMM. Nothing like following ice cream with pork! :)

These are the size gatherings that are cool. When the first ever USA FJR gatherings started in Ca. i believe they were 19 and 33 bikes the first two years. I have been to all but one WFO. Missed the Washington State meet. Small is cool. Oru WFO groups are now at about 150 or so. Can't see or meet everyone but all ic good .

I will post a link to my "ride report" on a site different from fjrforum.com for easier access to everyone who's interested (including my family).

Attempting to sift through 227 photos... and remember where the #)(*#$ I was when I pressed the button...

Captions as I have time...

Seals the deal. I will do everything I can to attend as many regional gatherings next year.

Looks like you guys and gals had a GREAT time!

It is nice to see others enjoying the area that I grew up and lived in since 1962. Now in Ca. I go back 1-2 times a year, once in the winter for hunting and the other in the summer for Sturgis. Sure is a pretty place. Now go home so I can go back and retire.

TwistedCricket and Rammer: Thanks for posting the pics. They are great! Twisted, that's the first time I've visited a google/picassa web album. I like the fact that when you view a single picture and "arrow" to the next one, it loads pretty quickly, unlike some other photo sites where it can take a much longer time to load each individual picture. And Rammer, the blog is very cool!

MKO-Mike. hehehehe thanks for posting that picture. It was tough even looking out at the horizon from up there.

Erik.

I like that blog too! I should do something with mine....hrm

I really like picasa because unlike some sites you don't have to register :) Plus you can arrange, re-arrange, save upload, etc all really quickly.

There is also a "slideshow" option - I had one monitor at work running the slide show so people could drool over the best 3 days of PTO I've taken since my June trip to Rock Mountain National Park. :yahoo:
