Rev limits,
They are different on the Gen I and Gen II's.

My 07A hits the ******* at 9300 rpm (indicated).

Gramps has told me that his 05 hits it at 10,500.

Yea 9300 9500 ish. i hit mine fairly often.. Less as I practice.. Hitting it while speeding up in counter productive to accelerating hard

After reading about "blowing it out" the other day I decided to find the limiter just for my own knowledge ;) and hit it at about 9300 on my 07AE in 2nd. Oooohhh what fun. If I ever get out on a track I may see if I can get it in other gears, but I'm not ready for that yet.
You might be surprised how you will ignore speed on the track. the two days I had mine there I never looked at the speedo..... I never thought about it until this very second.. But I never did.... "Eyes Forward" had my full attention.. But I do so recommend a track day.. Ohhh what fun

I grew up racing British sports cars and generally pay close attention to red lines. That 948cc H production Sprite was a ***** to overhaul.Ed
Good to know that someone else had the British bug.All I learned about is the term British Racing Green and you better have plenty of it!

I have TWO rev limiter's on my 05 engine at about 10+ and the other..... a sharp pain in my right shoulder

when my wife is aboard!

9,300 on my 08. It was over 10,000 on the 05. We pushed it until it hit the limiter on the dyno and it cuts off at 9,300 on the dyno which was 9,500 on the bikes tach. The 08 also has a soft limiter as opposed to the sudden cut off on my 05. Look at a dyno curve on these bikes and you will see they peak at around 8,200 RPM for HP and the TQ peak is around 7,000 RPM. The HP starts to tail off at 8,500 RPM's. The 05 motors were the same so there is no reason to push them much past 9,000 RPM's.

I hit the limiter today, two-up in first gear with the front wheel about 4 inches off the deck. Wheel came down.

:)
