after roadracing for several years i have become very comfortable with reverse shifting and have not come up with a clean way of converting the fjr. just curious if any one has tried this? :glare:

Should be easy with the AS (AE) version, just swap a couple of wires ...

I had toyed with this idea a while back. Sat down and designed a bellcrank and plate that replaced the motor mount. Had a friend who's a hobby machinist going to do it. Had it planned, but lass lost intrest/enthusiasm. Scroll down in this thread for pics. That's my R1 that's GP shift. I've just adapted to both I guess! lol

I wonder if you could just turn the lever around on the shift shaft, and use a curved plate similar to the Wild Bill peg mounts to clear the cover. A curved shaft could flex, but a plate should be plenty stiff.

thanks for the info, thats exactly what i had in mind. i ride a zrx1100 as my every day rider (revers pattern) and use the fjr for touring, after one run through the gears on ether bike i adapt ok but it would be nice to have them the same. thank you

I looked into this at one point and thought I would just reverse the plate, but there is not enough room. If I recall, the frame is in the way. Looked around for an aftermarket solution, but came up empty as Vortex and all the rest of the rear set manufacturer's don't make rear sets for the FJR. So basically I just have to remind myself when I hop on the FJR that first gear is down... not up.
