I know these things take time. I would prefer if no one used this topic as an excuse to vent.

The wait has taken over a year for me. One of the other guys on the ride sent his paperwork in the same envelope as mine and he's been certified for months and I'm still not.

Does anyone have a better story? (remember keep it civil)

I did my run last Sept (14th) so over a year for me. I have sent 3 emails and had a response from 2 (IRA). The last one, 2 weeks or so ago, has not (yet) garnered a response.

Same envelope - that just blows chunks.

From an e-mail today from Kneebone to Premier members:

As you no doubt know, mid-2006 through today has been a trying time forthe IBA certification program. I am happy to announce that our new

staff (new meaning the people I hired in January 2007 are finally

up-to-speed!) is really starting to shine. All 2006 rides are now verified

and heading off to be printed and mailed.
Personally, I have one that is about 15 months.

Rode my first SS1000 on June 29-30 2007, (1025/ 16hr 20min) with Hoagy's Heros for charity. Guess I better get comfortable if 2006 was just completed that means there's still 6 months of paper shuffling before I see the light of day!!

15 months here also.

Believe me, I know it sucks. If I were awaiting my very first cert and entry into the IBA I would have gone nuts a looong time ago.

As Iggy quoted above, looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there.

Further info from that communication said they fully expect to have 2008 rides down to a two month waiting period. And will be working hard to catch up the rest.

I have no one to blame but myself. If I had wanted a cert immediately, I would have done GZ's 1k at Utah. I was seriously considering it, then just wimped out. Something about having to find stuff, take pix, or whatever seemed to daunting at the time. Just riding for 1k on your own schedule is much easier I would think.

..and, so now, I wait and will NOT complain. That ain't the CBA way. Mr K. has done so much for the community - like Ian, come to think of it, and I will not kick either for any reason. So, patience is a virtue...

I think a lot of it can be that sooo many do a SSK instead of a longer ride.Demand vs supply issue. There are so many new riders now as compared to say 20 years ago.

I got the Cert I filed from my post WFO-5 BBG (filed in August of 06) in September of 07. So a bit over a year, but it finally did show up, and I got a call from Mr. Kneebone as well.

Hey Groo, was the phone call fun? Jeesh, I sure hope MK calls me! I'd like to explain how the temporary insanity overcame my CBA prezidency..

Sort of... not much he can do other than profusely apologize for the wait....

Although the first thing he asked was "Are you going to make a habit of repairing tires in Winnemucca Nevada at 2 AM?"... I figured it was him afterwards... we chatted for a short while, mostly me expressing my surprise that he was calling at all, since it was the week before the Iron Butt Rally. He said at that point, it was mostly on autopilot until the actual event, so he was trying to get as many certs. out the door as he could before he had to leave for St. Louis.

Welp, no further excuse for me to delay sending my stuff in. From a year ago.

Just did my SS1K in September, so I am just starting the wait. I saw a copy of the list of SS1K rides that were sent in to be certified for the last half of 2006, and was AMAZED at how many rides there were. I don't like waiting, but seeing how many they had to get through (Probably an average of 8-20 per day, everyday) helped me to realize the massive task they have.

I did my IAB 1500 Gold and sent documentation and check in September 2006. The check was cashed in Jan. '07 and I still haven't received my cert. The buddy I did the BBG with sent his in about the same time and received his cert. the end of Jan. '07. I'm not a happy camper!
