I live in Jacksonville Florida and will be heading for Americade in Lake George, New York - yep, I know I can drive straight up I95, turn a little bit and get there( see, I went to college) , but I am looking for a more scenic route - but still not too much added to the distance.

Anyone have any suggestions? I will be carrying tent and camping gear on bike and plan to do the trip up in 2 or 3 days.

Depends on whether you prefer the coastal roads or the mountains.

If you stick to the coast you will not add too many miles but you will be travelling pretty slowly with local traffic.

My choice would be to take the slab northwest through Atlanta and pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway. You might even want to take a look at the Dragon and Cherahola while you are in the neighborhood.

When you get to the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, you jump on Skyline drive and continue north thru the mountains of VA, western MD and eastern PA and so forth. Probably adds 1 1/5 day to running I95, but oh so worth it.

Fantasitc - Geezer and ImAllin - I95 is such a bore. I was up in Deals Gap (went to the BMW Georgia Rally last weekend) and that area is beautiful so I certainly wouldn't mind going there again - Thanks for the great advise - I definitely will go the mountain route as I have the time and I see the beachy type stuff all the time - just yesterday I rode the beach down to Daytona Beach and back and I am ready for the mountains again. I have not been up on the route Skyline drive and north thru the mountains of VA, western MD and eastern PA so that will be a new adventure.

Since you will already be "in the area" if you are going to Americade, you should make sure to hit some of the great roads (ie: VT 100) in Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. From Lake George you can shoot up the western side of Lake Champlain and take a ferry over to Burlington VT....a really nice little city with great bars and restaurants right on the Lake. If you still are in a riding mood you can come down to eastern Long Island and I'll show you what all ocean beaches should look like.

Thanks Axeman - yes, I am planning now to see if I can "expand" my timeframe some to see the sites. With the exception of the floods in the New England area it all sounds like a beautiful park of the country I have never even been to. Burlington sounds like my kind of place.
