Not a big story here...

Just wanted to share that I've had my FJR for 2 years and my wife and I took a ride together. My wife was TOTALLY against my FJR purchase. At the beginning she did not want to be on at all because she was so mad. However, she has seen how much I enjoy the motorcycle and is starting to come around a bit. We don't go out much and she is always trying to get us out to do something special...so I suggested a little ride out to Galena Illinois.

This past weekend was that weekend. Illinois is corn country so much of the ride was corn fields and country roads, peaceful and serene if not exciting. The best part were the modest hills curves and rises near Galena. My wife enjoyed the ride and loved the curves, she was not timid at all. I think she will grow into a great passenger, even if she is only comfortable for about 200 to 250 miles.

It was nice to feel my wife lean into the curves with me, sharing a new experience together. She is excited about doing it again. She doesn't like long days, so she has even brainstormed that I can ride out to someplace and she can fly in, we ride for a few days or so, and she can fly back while I ride back. Sounds like a good plan and I didn't even put that idea into her head.

;)

Hey, congrats on the monumental growth in your relationship!

Sounds like it's time to sign up for WFO-5. :) She can meet some other women who tag along and chat. Or complain, or whatever it is they do when we're not paying attention. ;) Just a suggestion: Don't take her on a 300 mile ride when it's 106 degrees out. Trust me on this.

You should know, :p Eve is he being a good boy these days. We just got back from a 7 day ride 2300 miles two of us had to buy tires on the roasd as would not make it back or were questionable at least mine was Bobs was not going to make it home, I might have but since we only have two tires its not good to ride on tires that are questionable. Also the roads we were rideing you needed good tires

rogerfjrfaster :D

Sherri and I love our time together on the FJR. I'm glad you and your wife are starting to share the same type of experiences!

:D :D

Gee, you can give your wife your bike and order an 06 now that she wants to participate!! Don't miss this opportunity! :D :D

@06:

My wife won't be operating a motorcycle in the near future...

It was just nice after 2 years of owning the bike to share a nice 2-up ride with her...

Good for you wheaton. What your wife described is exactly what mine did this summer at WFO...She had a great time meeting all the other SO's, and seeing first hand, the passion we all share. Maybe we can get them together next summer in Reno... :)

Ride on dude, ride on.

WTH is it with married women, none of them want to ride, either their own MC or bit@h?

The single women all want to ride, and only ride bit@h, but I'm married to the Sea-Hag, so I don't let them on...for now :D

did you get to take Stagecoach Trail? Very nice route - all curves and changing elevation

Stagecoach Trail - Yes

and alot of county roads in the middle of nowwhere getting out there,

IL Rt 78 north of IL Rt 64 up to US rt 20,

other county roads between Stagecoach and Rt 20.

Next year, going up to Dodgeville, WI as a base and taking the county roads north of the WI River and South of the interstate... B) :p

Wheaton ---

What a huge deal! Congrats to you but even more Congrats to her.. Takes a degree of courage to take that first ride..

Really glad for ya, Wheaton. Two years isn't too long to wait as long as the little lady's happy. My wife really loves the FJR too. I don't know how tall yours is, but peg extenders made mine happier. So did a Givi trunk with back pad and Toecutter's extension plate (I figure any backrest would serve the same purpose). We won't be doing any long days either, but with the proper rest stops she's good for 250 mi. Who's in a hurry anyway?

Once did a really nice little ride to Bloomington. There was some nice rolling country around there and it was a fun town. Guess it's the wrong time of year, though. Enjoy the spring.

Wheaton,

Now that winter is here, (in our part of the country anyway) you might take this time to add those farkles as suggested by Silverado to make the bike emminently more comfortable for you wife. I went the Sargent seat route with the removable backrest, as well as the peg extenders with Kuryakin foot pegs(everything folds out of the way when you ride solo).

I would also take this holiday season to shop for high quality and comfortable (and safe) bike apparel for your wife. Nothing says inclusion to the sport better than a good set of matching outfits. Toecutter went the Cycleport route, or you can go semi-custom Aerostich, or any other HIGH QUALITY set. You'd be surprised at the input and general goodwill that you would get if your spouse felt that she was more than just an occasional part-time passenger. It would also be a great excuse for YOU to get some new threads, (or leathers) as well! ;)

Glad to hear you had such a good time.

I used to live in the northen suburbs of Chicago, and I have done that ride to Galena before. Its a beautiful little town.

It's a long way to go just to get to some twisties.

Looks like you made it just in time to beat the snow storm :)
