Good day to all. We had a good gathering of riders for the meet and greet last sunday in the Chicago area ,so I thought I would throw this out for advanced planning on a ride to Peoria for the TT races.

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY

Aug. 19th Peoria TT Races

Throw out some responses and we will see how much interest there is for a ride form the Chicagoland area down to the races in Peoria. Now others from different areas can come up with their own ride to the races. We could do several things. Meet up for B'fast on day of the race and ride down. Or for those inclined- ride down on Saturday and stay overnight. Saturday night there is a party on the Riverfront (bands etc.) and there are vendors set up in the downtown area that day. Orrrr everyone can just go on their own and meet down there on the day of the race.

Since I live up north I'm thinking breakfast with some of the others that are close enough (Blindman, Roadrider, etc) and then a ride down the river to the races. For those up north we could hook up with those further south as we wind our way down to the I-80 area.

I have always enjoyed this ride down the Illinois river and there is a great event to see at the other end.

At any rate, think about it and we can kick it over on this thread. We have about 2 months to come up with some sort of plan.

Hmmm . . . there seems to be little interest here but I try to get to the Peoria TT every year, and I usually make it If anyone wants to meet up for breakfast or just the ride down, I'm game. I have to work around my daughter going back to school, which I think is on the 18th, but I think I can go down early on Sunday for the races.

The question seems to be, is there any interest?

I try to go every year too. I'm game. Roadrider think of where a meetup spot could be. Either for breakfast or just ride to Peoria. Maybe somewhere further south since you're up in Antioch I think. Maybe a little west too- to pickup others going down.

Last year I took 83 to I-55 to I 80 to Ottawa - then south towards river for ride along river. Always nice.

I took 83 because I have no I pass. Didn't want to give Blags any ripoff toll money! 294 is quicker though.

I usually like to take the rural path by taking route 251 down from Rockford to I-80 and then go to the river at 180, but I could take I-355 down and meet you at the 355-55 interchange somewhere for breakfast. If I get an early enough start I could take rte 59 all the way to I-80. It depends on my mood and whether anyone else chimes in.

I looked at the map and can see why you take 251. Nice, straight,rural-no interstate traffic hassle.

355 & 55 would work. I also thought that maybe if you want to take 59 I could take north (64) out west and meet you there and continue down 59.

Wheaton is out around there and maybe he could join us. If so, I could take 38 out to 59 and we could all hook up there.

How about it Wheaties. Wanna go racin'. Let us know.

Griff, you want to meet us somewhere along the route. 80 west to 55 interchange- would be easy for you.

Any one else comin'. Who knows of a good restaurant/cafe for breakfast somewhere in these meetup points? Or elsewhere?

Blindman you and wife going? You guys could hook up further up north on 59.

Let's go racin'.

Yeah, I may be up for this. Assuming I get back in one piece from WFO. I am in Billings, MT right now and it was frickin 105 today. Boy, the FJR really puts out the heat when it wants too!!

blitzer, I'm not going to be able to make it. I'll be moving 2 of the 3 kids back to college in August. Son starts his senior year on 8/20 and daughter her freshman year on 8/27. I'll be putting the miles on the pickup rather than the fjr in August.

I'm on a family minivan vacation out in Colorado right now...but will check back with you. BTW, I would never head down 59 as it is a boring main drag....I would head out west of there into the boonies and take the rural 2-laners...

I will check back in when I get back from CO.

Too, bad for you guys that aren't going to make it down, I drive by the track twice a day to work and to home. Peoria Motorcycle Club is really spiffing the place up, grass is cut, weeds are pulled, fresh paint dabbed all over. If you are planning on coming book early, it was quite a party last year and expected to be even bigger this year. Book the whole weekend if you can, Big blow out on the river front on Saturday.

I want to try to get a definite meetup place decided so others can make their plans also.

R.R. (Gary) - If you want to take a more rural route how about 47. I could meet you at 64 & 47 or if there is a cafe /restaurant in Lily Lake we could meet there - on 47/Lily Lake. I am following Wheaton's suggestion of getting off the beaten track.

Does anyone know of a restaurant in Lily Lake?

From there we could decide on a possible route to Peoria. I'm thinking get on 23 (47 to 30 to 23) going down to Ottawa.

Pick up Griff around 23 & I-80 area. Then meander through the scenic stuff.

Let's go those with GPS - get me some coordinates Mr. Spock. Where is my Ill e noize map?

We can meet airboss down there since he is south of P.

It looks like there are some restaurants just south of Lily Lake in Elburn but I'm not sure if they're what we're looking for. One is called Papa G's and it's open for breakfast.

Elburn sounds good to me. I did a quick search - found something called kountry kettle. That sounds like it might be a good breakfast place. I will calll them when I gat a chance to see. If not, PAPA G's may be OK. How can you mess up eggs?

Who wants to meet in ELBURN? Who...I say..WHO? I checked the map again. If we keep going down 47 we hit 71. We can take that 2 laner all the way to river I think.

I will check back later. Off to Yamapalooza ...or something like that. :yahoo:

Decisions, decisions, if you guys can make it to I 474 and route 29 south by 9-10 Am I'll buy you breakfest at Denny's.

Hmmm, I may be up to that. About 3 hours from Crown Point - wouldn't have to leave that early. By the way, congrats for the instate SS1K!!!

Talked to the Kountry Kettle. They do breakfast and I actually found someone's review on them. They said the food is good. They are a winner!

I am up for meeting there for B'fast. 115 S. Main St. Elburn. This is 47 so should be easy to find.

R.R. I will PM you with my phone no. for real time communication when needed.

If there are others going to B'fast tell us so we may have a heads up and I can let the Kettle know. I'm thinking about getting there at 8-8:30 am. R.R. you may want to shoot for 9 since you are a good distance further- I don't know how 47 would be on a Sunday morn.

Someone else want to meetup further down the road - pick a spot. Maybe right where 71 goes south of I-80?

The Kountry Kettle sounds good. I'll see you there. I'll try for 8:30 but should make 9:00 regardless.

If it's raining I'm pretty sure they won't race since it's a dirt/clay track.

See you all down there. I stay with friends all weekend in Chillicothe. Joan Jette and B'hearts Saturday night-quite the show!

I'll just have to look for guys wearing Yamaha stuff and buy them beer? :fans:

Blitzer, Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it after all. My daughter's dorm move-in schedule is tomorrow so I'll be heading there in the morning. The weather looks iffy anyway. I'll try to make the August get together.

Who made it to Peoria yesterday? I whimped out because of the rain. Looks like they did run the races.
