So, last Saturday, even though some shopping needed to be done, I opted instead to

make it a motorbike day.

First, I rode out to our shop to change my oil. It's such a breeze on an FJR.

About 10 minutes and painless. But, I was wondering, what kind of oil I should....

Aaah, never mind.

We've got pigs at work. I've grown fond of them, but I'm told they have

only another month.

Considered setting them free in the middle of the night.

This is them. Steve, Rodney, and Dave.

This is Lucca. He's deaf and has poor eyesight. An old man.

His nose still works, though.

IMG_6706.jpg

And his best buddy, Sierra. She's a doll, but the camera scares her.

IMG_6708.jpg

Okay. Motorcycling.

Rode out east and south. This is what it looked like.

Just outta town.

Through Drytown. Very small.

IMG_6728.jpg

"Passing a truck" photo.

IMG_6731.jpg

And on through the rolling foothills.

IMG_6733.jpg

Through Jackson, stopping when something deserved attention.

IMG_6743.jpg

Neat cemetery.

IMG_6507.jpg

IMG_6512.jpg

Holy hilltop.

IMG_6517.jpg

Thank GOODNESS for California's cellphone law.

IMG_6519.jpg

Rural life.

IMG_6524.jpg

And a quick stop.

I wonder is it a contraction, or the possessive?

IMG_6526.jpg

My brethren.

Days are too damn short this time of the year. The afternoon had slipped away, so

I turned for home.

Followed this fellow for a bit, but couldn't take it for long.

IMG_6772.jpg

IMG_6776.jpg

I'd just passed him, and slowed down. Whew. :D

IMG_6798.jpg

And on back.

IMG_6799-1.jpg

IMG_6816.jpg

Another quick stop for adjustments.

IMG_6528.jpg

More old man music.

IMG_6838.jpg

Where did the day go?

IMG_6552.jpg

And back to reality for the last few miles home.

IMG_6562copy-1.jpg

I hate it when it's over.

Sooooo, fast forward to Christmas Eve. (Last night.)

Chores were done, so I decided to take a late evening ride. Most folks were where they were going,

and the traffic had eased up. I just took a little ride around town, here and there, and got a few photos.

This is them.

A quick errand...

IMG_6725.jpg

...And then aimless wandering.

Hoping everyone had a good Christmas.

It's been quite a year.

Thanks for looking in.

So when I saw the title of your thread here, Mikey, I thought "Wow, OM's going to be riding this week. And he's posting up so some of us can join him." Hah. Just another "Here are some pictures of a ride I ALREADY took" report. Let somebody know if you feel like riding this week. Looks like it might be another nice week here in God's favorite motorcycle country.

First rule of raising livestock OM, never name anything you're gonna eat.

This is them. Steve, Rodney, and Dave

I'd post some pic's of my ride to my daughters house yesterday, but first of all in was in a 4 wheel drive Jeep, and second the world was covered in a big white blanket, might put you into a state of shock, so I won't do it.

Looks like Rodney gets no respect....

Nice laid-back ride report Old Michael. Days are too damn short, but getting longer inexorably...

Maybe you should have checked out the blond girls nips, then you'd know if it was the possessive...

California is a great place, except for all the people.

Happy New Year -- I'm looking forward to more ride reports.

Thanks for a great start to my day, OM. I really enjoyed looking at the photos, and reading your witticisms. In reference to an earlier post, where I noted that sheep and ****s seem to featuring prominently of late, this thread got close. One couldn't see closely enough (thank goodness) to see whether Blondie's were really frosty but the pigs would fill the gap for the livestock lovers around here.

I think we have a worthy competitor to rival Orangevale's ride reports. (Hey - you're not just recycling his work are you?)

Looking forward to the next one.

Again, outstanding Ride Report Old Michael. Love California, great motorcycle riding state. Like the springer spaniels/pigs too!

Best Shot, but I've got to ask. "How in the world?????"

IMG_6718.jpg

:waaa: Silly Me! With my adventuresome nature I thought you were..... well never mind, it's still a great shot.

Thanks for sharing

Keep Going!

Did you know that the pig is one of the most intelligent animals?

Have you seen the movie, "Babe"?

Our beloved Miss Piggy is, of course, a swine.

Have you read Upton Sinclare's novel "The Jungle" about the meatpacking industry?

I'm sure we've all read Aristotles wry short story on pigs, motorcycles, and yellow helmets. I just re-read it and have had to stop several time to wipe away tears.

PS - I did have some delicious ham over the holidays.

I love O.M.

There...I said it. :assassin:

Thanks for the great wanderings/musings. Not just this report, but all the others as well. Exactly why the FJR and cameras were made...but refined through the twisted mind of a funny forum bud.

Thanks for the pigs picture...looks like they were having fun...

...excuse me now while I go out and make a ham sammich. Now them's tasty! :clapping:

I always post in the Ride-Planning section, Mike. Very few responses.

... never name anything you're gonna eat.
Airboss, the "old" me would take that and run with it. ...But I've turned over a new leaf.

California is a great place, except for all the people.
Shucks, Shiny. Sweet-talkin' devil.

Looking forward to the next one.
Jill, why don't you and that man of yours (the one with the funny-looking European bike) try making it

to THIS THING even though

it is for the "LD Community" people, and they take themselves pretty seriously, and may not let us eat with them.

Like the springer spaniels/pigs too!
Don, you're a man with multiple fetishes interests, huh?

Thank you.

Hey, did you sire this dog? She has your eyes.
And my heart.

Thanks for taking us along Mr. Mike.
See you in DV, hoser.

Linky no worky but if you're talking about the DV trip, I'd love to go. The GS's would be so much fun on the trails there. Sadly, I'm locked into working that weekend. The job requires that I work every other weekend : ( (Working HARD. like I'm doing right now.)

Linky no worky...
Fixed it, I think.

It's for that get-together in Guadalupe on Dec. 30 (this week!), which is a Wednesday.

A bunch of your buds'll be there.

And by the way, I was hoping that "Whack a Penguin" game would be posted again this holiday season.

That was a highlight of Xmas, '08, don't you think?

*Yes. If they rode, they'd be on FJR's.

*No.

*"Our"?...."beloved"?

*Yes. Depressing. Like the holidays. And Shiny's posts.

*Yeah, MJD, that Ari is a freakin' crack-up.

:D

Michael, you must be looking at my work calendar!! I'm scheduled for 30th, while you guys are all out having fun. Then again, work is probably the safest place since they don't play Whack a Penguin very often.

Thanks for the pics. Although in Virginia, born and raised in California. Great Pics. I made the silhouette of the FJR in the sunset my desktop pic. Looks like a great ride.

Rick
