I'll depart from Lorton, Virginia around 7:30 am on Thursday, Sep 7. Plan to take some major roads, avoiding interstates as much as possible. I intend to return Sunday, Sep 10, but if you choose to ride with me to the EOM there's no expectation that you have to ride back also.

Let me know if you'd like to go!

I'm headed down Fri AM and will also be coming back Sunday. We can talk about riding back together on Sun the 10th. BTW, I'm from Stafford.

Jim

cafn8d, there are a few people that will be leaving fr/ NOVA. I'd offer to hook up and ride with you but I'm in Norfolk. I plan on leaving here @ 7:00 that same morning. There is a New York rider & his wife (I think that his handle is Tim05FJR) coming thru Virginia Beach on his way down. I'm planning on riding with them.

I am sure there are others who will be chiming in, though. Good luck, ride safe & see you in Boone.

Howdy Mr. Jim Lor... you're gonna' miss Friday morning Shady Valley exploration.... bummer! Will be good to see you and the Missus... HI LORI!

JimLor: I'm cool for the Sunday thing. Thanks for the suggestion.

luvtoride: FJR Gary and I are working out the details of riding down together on Thursday. We plan to pass through Charlottesville, and take the BRP down from where it crosses I-64 just west of Charlottesville. Perhaps we could rally near that intersection, or somewhere along the BRP, if you'd like.

Hey Dave! Thanks for the offer of meeting in Charlottesville. That'd be a great place for us to meet if we were headed out into WV... but it'd put me a couple of hundred miles out of the way of getting to Boone. I'm heading out on Rte 58 (which runs almost the full length of the bottowm part of the state), dropping down into Carolina on... I think that it's I95... not looking at a map right now. From there we'll head out on 40 to 421 & directly into Boone. It's about a 350 mile trip w/o doing any detours or heading to the mountains & then going south... which is sooo tempting!

I figure we're going to be doing some awesome riding over the weekend so, I'm slabbing the fastest way out.

Thanks very much & I'll be looking forward to meeting you @ the meet.

Oh, by the way... be nice to Jim & Gary... they're both good guys.

Thanks for the reply. Your route makes sense to me. Look forward to meeting you, too.

I'll do my best to be nice. I'm leaving my hooligan ride at home (FZ1) and plan to behave myself to the utmost on this trip.

I'll be leaving from Winchester Va sometime friday...i think im going to camp at the KOA near there...

{hijack apology in advance}

this info doesn't relate directly to this thread but this seemed like the best place to post the news. Just letting my NoVa buds know that it appears I won't be attending EOM after all. man, I'm bummed!

Unfortunately I got a double whammy late last week... an excessive crazy car repair bill along with the news that me ma is unexpectedly visiting our clan in October from California. The combo of both means I've got to conserve funds and vacation time to make sure I can be available for the visit.

you cats and kittens have an incredible time -- wish I could be there too.

please travel safe, ride smart, and have a blast!

best regards

patrick

Thanks for the empathy Gary!!

I'm not a happy camper...

Hopefully someone will take some photos and I can enjoy it vicariously.

Have a great time!
