Know them roads well Jim. Oregon has the best Moto friendly roads in the PNW for sure.

Best of show! Thanks for sharing.

Keep Going!

Awesome stuff Jim! Beautiful area & roads! And yeah it seems like a fairly deserted area that nobody really seems to know about...which makes it even better!

"NE Oregon has the highest concentration of great motorcycle roads on the west coast, save Northern California and perhaps the California Sierras. It is an un-discovered treasure of great roads."

Nice job, Fontana...now everyone knows  Yep, you're correct, NE Oregon roads are fantastic. I've had many a great weekends in that neck of the woods. In fact, I should head over and do it again...it's been a while.

That's a beautiful area though it looks like your back roads need chipseal patches and tar snakes. You can borrow some of ours...we have plenty!

Jim,

Great RR, I'm in Bend for 5 days, but I drove with my wife and dog, wish I had my bike with me :(

My tires took a beating in Oregon. There is plenty of cheapseal on the roads in the box. Four years ago I damn near stacked my bike up between Heppner and Condon due to loose gravel. I hate cheapseal as much as I hate Forest Rats. Of course I learned a couple of lessons on that most puckering experience and now go a bit slower. I don't trust those roads at all unless it is 100% asphalt but even then the right hand turns have gravel due to cars cutting the turn.

During this ride some guys on sport bikes passed me like I was standing still. I was doing 55 to 60mph. Of course their bikes weigh a fraction of a Feejer and likely have some real sticky tires vs my PR 2's. When they blew by me I remember saying to myself, "Good luck guys!".

Great photos and report! I may have to alter my planned route from Salmon, ID to LaPine for the RTE in September to include some of these roads.

I'll get on Google maps just now!!

Gorgeous roads and scenery up in that neck of the woods! Riding north east Oregon is like going to a strip club though... beautiful curves but you can't really touch them.

55 MPH is an injustice to some great road engineering. :angry2:

Based on a previous pucker experience where my old Vstrom used up both lanes of the road and looked more like a fat dirt bike moving the wrong way in a power slide I am happy to observe the speed limit most of the time. Too much gravel in the turns on many of those roads. Happy riding.
