I need some input on where and what to get for my soon to be 12 year old son for a jacket? The jacket he has been wearing is shot. He is my riding buddy and I won't let him ride with out gear. Any help is deeply appreciated. Thanks guys from the both of us.

My 12 year old daughter wears a womans size medium... I would imagine that if an adult small is too big, look at some of the womens jackets.

For the most part the JR stuff and a few of the brands are just down-sized.

You're kinda far away, but if you ever get a chance to stop by the IronPony super-store in Columbus Ohio it's worth a trip.

They are online too (www.ironpony.com)

My now 16 year old son used to wear my wife's JR Jacket when he was 14? That's just an adult small.

Hope that helps.

I have a adult small that my wife wears and it is a little big. I picked him up from school to day on the bike and he was pumped as you know. When we got home I took a closer look at his old riding jacket it was in bad shape. Thanks for the info.

Just bought my 10-year-old a textile Teknic (sp?) with elbow, spine and shoulder armor. It looked like a kids' jacket and was sold as such, but maybe a woman's small in black and grey. Got it at a local Suzuki dealership. They wanted $110, I talked them down to 95. When she heard it was for his birthday she said, "OK $85"

Who was I to argue?

I would stick with something you can size him in personally, rather than internet.

Just my 2 centivos

Yep...just had recent thread about this topic...in my case I found a JoeRocket women's small fits my 9 yr old son perfectly...man, those Japanese women must be petite! We got him the Phoenix in the silver/black color; great for hot weather.

They have alot of footwear on site to try on? Wifey needs something better than hiking boots.

Thanks

Yes, IronPony was always big but about a year and a half ago? The bought up a closed Walmart. The place is that big.

They have tons (pehaps 1/3 of the store at times) is filled with closeout stuff. Iron Pony is the ultimate fitting room ;) Their prices are OK but not always the greatest. I did purchase my daugthers Joe Rocket Jacket there, and my mesh pants, they had (5) different brands for me to try on. I hated them all but got the ones I hated less.

About 1/3rd of the store is cruiser stuff (metric crusier mostly), 1/3rd Dirtbike the other 1/3 street riding. They have almost all of the top brands.

As for boots, they generally have a pretty good stash. Though they never ever had the sidi's I wanted in my size in stock, other than a pair to try on.

It's worth a day ride, then romp on down to the AMA museum while you're over there.
