So, if you recall, I'm the guy with the 2006A that had 'carbonized' valves resulting in low compression (60&80) in cylinders 3 and 4. This required pulling the head to repair the problem and associated downtime.
After much gaffing by this illustrious board about being chicken sh!t to rev the motor, be a real man, etc, and, per Mr. Jestals recommendation of 'put it in second, run it up to red line, back off, repeat'.. all in order to produce IIRC maximum cylinder pressure, heat, and turbulence to blow carbon off the valve seats and into the atmosphere...
I found a GREAT way to ride it like a stolen rental yet not wad up... by riding 229, start to finsih, in second gear! For those of you who are not familiar with 229, it is a ~10 mile serpentine of on & off camber corners with serious elevation changes and just a few straight aways.. and, from this, I learned that..
1) in second gear the front end DOES come up and you can carry the front end for some time before setting it down, and
2) running only in 2nd gear teaches smoothness of throttle, corner speed, and braking.. which results in
3) Truly a fun ride!
Come on out and try it on 229 or on your favorite section of twisties.. :clapping:
