Only 1 rule for me when no hands on the bars:~~Never at dusk~~

But other than that

+ I do quite often, most frequently to dig something out of tank bag or to post on the forum or catch up on emails.

You know, Ig, this is the kind of statement that can come back to haunt you at election time.
I'm already screwed with far worse photographic evidence anyway....including specifically riding with no hands (on a special closed test track) and full (but rapidly depleting) clips in multiple Glocks. It even made several LEOs in attendance clap and shake their head for sheer profundity. And probably found here by anybody with marginal search skills.

Seriously, I do it myself regularly when no traffic is near as part of a calisthenics and stretching routine for long rides. The question just struck me as one of the most P in NEPRT that I've heard in a long, long time. It never occurred to me to ask it on the Intertubes and even less likely I'd somehow heed anybody's advice for what is a truly a personal decision. ;)

Whats fun is to stand on your seat with the cruise on. But you have to put the shield up or bugs will hit you in the nuts. "Look mom know hands. Look mom know feet. Look mom know teeth. I would not recommend doing it but I have!!

Just because the bike can do it, doesn't mean it's a safe of smart thing to do! Just my $0.02.
Yep, my front tar is near the end and I was surprised how quick the oscillation was building when I was putzing with a glove over the weekend, woulda probably gone tank slapper if left untouched. It seems cool, but the risk reward ratio can get skewed in a hurry. :dribble:
Yep! A tank slapper can develop very quickly! Especially going from wheel path to wheel path. and your done !

IMO It's just not a good practice.

I like to grind & brew coffee along with pulling out the paper and catching up on the news. It's tough doing the crossword with all that wind, but I've learned if you place your legs on top of tank and over the paper then you can work on it easier.

Maybe this another one of the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2 FJRs. Could Gen 1 bikes just be more stable in addition to being "faster" in some non-empirical way?

Of course maybe this post just inadvertently merged two NEPRTs into one, if so is that a service to the forum? Or is it a bad thing?

Either way, this is my 24th post, so soon no more FNG for me!
