Up for auction is a Rifle Touring tinted windshield ($169 new). Tuning Block is included.

An adjustable Vario Touring Screen (which by itself cost $77 new) is attached to the top of the windshield for still further adjustablility.

Putting it nicely, Yamaha didn't get this right. With over 20 degrees of angle difference between the down and up position for the 2001-03 version, and over 15 degrees for the 2004-05 version, the majority of the FJR's height range is at a too steep angle (for the 2004-05 model the angle is virtually the same as the 2001-03 in the down position and not as upright in the up position). Most people find that the stock windshield in the down position is too short and in the up position, due to the steep angle and excessive distance from the rider, there is too much turbulence. Also, in the up position there is excessive air flow under the shield.

Rifle has developed an exclusive "Tuning Block" to correct this problem. The Rifle Tuning Block reduces the windshield angle by 7 degrees which improves windshield performance, especially in the upper ranges. This angle reduction also brings the the windshield closer to the rider thereby increasing protection. We found that if you primarily use the shield in the down position, try using the Rifle shield without the Rifle Tuning Block (though our test riders liked the Tuning Block installed full time). If you will use the windshield in the up positions, use the Rifle Tuning Block.

The Rifle Tuning Block is only a few inches long (4" long x 1" wide), so it is easy to carry with you. You can install or remove as your riding preferences change.

Touring Summary: The Rifle Tunable Windshield for the 2003 Yamaha FJR 1300 is wider (2½" at the bottom to 4" at the top), 5" taller, 1" lower, and with the Rifle Tuning Block, optionally allows the angle to be reduced by 7 degrees, therby moving the windshield closer to the rider. For the 2004-05 Yamaha FJR 1300; wider (2½" at the bottom to 4" at the top), 3-¾" taller, 1" lower. When ordering - this is the Standard Size.
