Sunday morning ...recovering from a saturday ride that went late into the night ...and getting motivated to head to the garage to tinker with the bikes.

The phone rings. 'Who calls on Sunday morning?', I thought to myself ....and the caller ID doesn't look familiar ...but I decide to answer it anyway.

+"Hello"

- "Is this John"

+"Who's calling"

- "Michael Kneebone"

(I about hit the floor .....as in what the shit did I do now? Was it that BBG trip report? Why is he calling me? ....Can't be good news.)

+"Hello Michael, Yes, this is John ...Great to hear from you"

Well, it turns out Micahel was getting ready to send out the usual paraphenalia for a couple of rides that I had done nearly a year ago. I had sent a few state specific rides in together. He called to apologize for it taking so long (no worries on this end, never cared), he wanted to congratulate me and the usual BS

But then the conversation turned to riding, to fun, to life and even the 1088. We must have spent 20minutes on the phone sharing fun. It was truly groovy.

Don't document/submit very many of my rides, don't run in the IBA/LD circle(s) .....I'm a "no one" in that arena but am dabbling a bit in it this season. Still, it was very nice to get a personal call from Mr. Kneebone. This personal call and Michaels character speak volumes to the IBA in my opinion.

When I look back at these rides -a couple of fun, interesting and unique state specific rides ...the memories won't be of the ride, the challenges, the fun, the silliness ...those were all abundent ..but the memory will be of the very nice phone call I got from Michael Kneebone.

A class act IMO

during last years ibr, i was adding blather to the list with rider observations from south fl on those taking what some consider the 'sucker' run to key west...

had a chance to interact via email with mike kneebone, he was even politley enthusiastic when i suggested a theme for a future rally, and gamely offered me a spot in a future rally if i would campgain on a certian specific ride...

a kind and joival man...

...now, where IS my documentation to send in...

Whoa.

The man sees potential in you young man.

Do share when you get to SLC!

Mike's one of the nicest people you'll ever love to hate.

A great guy that really knows how to stitch together bonuses in the best way possible for you to be cussing the bonus but thanking him for the great ride when you get back.

I am sorry Mr. John. The forum guidelines specifically state no politics.

Mr Admins. please raise the warn level on this law breaker.

:p

Mike is indeed a nice guy!

It just feels different when he's running the rally your several days into!

Nice just doesn't seem to fit anymore
