Craig Jones was a very hot prospect. He has climbed through the ranks of British racing and had arrived aged 23 in world supersports this year. He was lying 3rd in race yesterday (3rd August) at the British round at Brands Hatch. The back end slid round low-siding him into the path of a Andrew Pitt who hit his helmet. They were doing approximately 130mph. Craig span to a stop in the middle of the track and was obviously unconcious.

Craig was a well known character in the British paddock, known for his ability to reverse a bike into a corner and drift it out. He had done this several times on this same exit when the rear wheel got away from him.

I am stunned and shocked that such a well known and highly tallented rider is lost like this. I have known of so many riders over the years that have been killed racing and it never ceases to stop me in my tracks. My thoughts go out to his family and friends, and to Andrew Pitt.

RIP Craig.

Fortunately (for me), I heard about this before I had a chance to watch the race. I will now not watch it. I've seen enough deaths in person at the track and on TV and I'll jump on this chance to NOT watch another.

RIP Jonesy.

Jonesy doing what he did best, and what he will best be remembered for....being spectacular.

That is sad news indeed, for all concerned. The rider who hit Craig must be feeling terrible right now, although it didn't look as though he could have done anything different.

My condolences to his friends and family.

Jill
