Road Conditions for Hwy 49

If anyone has been on any of these roads recently, please advise of any items of concern, prior to Saturday 5-13.

Depart Bakersfield, 99 North; to,

41 North; to,

49 North; to,

50 East; to,

395 North; to Reno.

Depart Reno on 395 South; to,

14 South; to,

178 East; to Bakersfield.

Recent trips on 49 have been good with no hazardous subsustances on the road. 50 was closed due to a mudslide but I think you can limp through now. Check the conditions before you leave and maybe do 88 to 89 to 50 as an alternate.

I took 49 north to 108 last Friday afternoon, and it's in fine condition!

Thanks for the responses.

Great trip. The Little Dragon portion of Hwy 49 was great.

The only downside to 49 was the parade/rodeo in Sonora that resulted in detours and the weekend tourists in all of the small "gold country" towns along 49.

Hwy 50 was in good shape.

The way back from Reno on 395 was also fine.

The only road conditions of concern occured on Hwy 178 through Walker Pass to Lake Isabella, where they'd recently oiled and graveled the road.
