Yesterday I rounded a turn on 53 heading west from Gainsboro to Granville, and instead of a tar snake, there was a very long black racer there in the road. I was able to maneuver around him, but I wondered how it would feel to slide on him leaned over on the exit side of the curve.

Two years ago I was riding on 293 from 84 over to 42 through, and came up on a whole flock of small rattle snakes in the road. I guess they were enjoying the warm asphault. It was spring.

Tar snakes can be troublesome, as can frost heaves or water drainage settling. Nothing to do about them on public roads but pay attention.

You should also take into consideration what type of riding you do. No disrespect intended but the list posted does not reflect my experiences with two of the tires. My bike came with the 021's and I hated them. The front wore out the sides first and I was left with an approx 1 2/2 inch wide stip of rubber in the middle that stuck out quite a bite. Cornering sucked to say the least, bike was always trying to stand up in the corners, it was very tiring and scary at times. This was due to the dual compound tread and me not riding a lot of straightaways. Not the tire for my type of riding.

I put on a set of the Road Attacks, which I've had a few sets on my FZ6, and the bike now tracks like never before in the corners. It remain to be seen how many miles I will get out of them, I have 2800+ right now. They tip in a corner quick but slow down as you get further over. I think of it as power steering. Comes in handy getting a big bike through the twisties without having to manhandle it. I love carving corners, with or without pax. There are a lot of high speed sweepers in Colorado. I just want a fork brace now. Grooves are non-existent but they do slide some on the snakes. I would like to find a similar performing tire that got more miles, but you always have to give up something.

I might be misinterpreting the list but I wouldn't put the 021's above the RA's myself. I am very interested in the Roadsmarts but kinda afraid to try something else since I like the RA's so much. Just think about what kind of riding you do also to make sure you get something that suits your style.

I believe that Jeff's ratings were strictly in relation to how they handled tar snakes. I'm pretty sure I remember that he likes the PR2's better than Roadsmarts if rated overall.
